As I'm sure some of you have heard, but Etown Raceway park has met it's demise as far as drag racing is concerned. All the news I've heard and read says that the drag strip, the airport and apparently one of the MX tracks are getting torn down. All drag race staff has been let go. No events on their calendar for all of 2018. For those of us that have spent time there, it's a sad day. I was there back in the days at the beginning of import drag racing. Names like Craig Paisley, Steph Papadakis, JoJo Callos, Eddie Bello, Vinny Ten......the list goes on. Terrible news.

That sucks. Used to go there almost every weekend. That's where I first saw Eddie Bello and his old school 911. He told me he drove up from Florida in it and I was shocked. The only complaint I have about Etown is that test and tune Friday night was a joke. Forgot what it used to cost but I'd only get in 2 runs sometimes. RIP ETOWN!!

Not sure what TurboTrix has been up to. Heard they were doing minimal stuff a couple years ago. And yeah, Friday nights were tough cause it was always so packed, and for 20 bucks to MAYBE get two runs was tough. And then they went to the ratchet Friday crap, which was even worse. More expensive, and the lines were insane. I was in the tech line for an hour and then in the staging lanes for another hour and a half before getting my first run in. Just sucks it's going away. RIP ETOWN!

This was an ongoing issue. I think they refused to remove the track lights that were interfering with the planes trying to land. Well atleast we still have Atco raceway

The track leased the land to copart.com which is an auction company. The land will be used to store/park vehicles getting auctioned off.

This issue actually came up at Summitmotorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio with the lights and planes interference.

As much as I hate self driving cars, its not either of those things. Its the economy and the lack of intrest in cars from kids. The climate change nut huggers are making kids think cars are the devil. That coupled with the economy have been garbage for so long. In the 90s and early 2000s the middle class had more purchasing power. Now you can't build a race car when your only making 10-12$ an hour unless you live at home with mom and dad. 10+ years ago you could, cost of living keeps going up and wages aren't matching it. At least in my neck of the woods, the entry level jobs at factories and such are still payin 9.50-12 an hour and 10-15 an hour for lift drivers. Which if you have 2 adults working full time you can just barely afford to pay bills and purchase a home.
