I'm new on here and I just picked up a 96 GST for $150 but it' is in rough shape. The guy said that he thought it needed a new timing belt, he changed it and it still wouldn't run so he started taking thangs apart and I mean a lot of stuff. Motor still intact for most part but dash and wires are all unhooked.

I've built a few mean Honda's and even a 3sgte MR2 but those is my first GST.

My question is, is it worth trying to build her or not? I know the 4g63 can be vary mean.

That looks like a nightmare. I'd part it out personally. $150 is a good buy, you can just start selling stuff and have your money back and then some in no time. That 1G bov is worth $50, someone will want the turbo/manifold for a conversion for an N/A, Is the engine even good? Can you turn the crank freely, timing marks lined up? He may have messed up. If the engine's good, it, or at least the head will sell. Someone may need the transmission. Auto or manual. Just start posting stuff up.
If you are set on building it, doe's it at least come with the parts he started removing? I don't think Id go by what the seller told you, why is the radiator and front components out of the car if he was chasing a no start issue? You may work your butt off to get it together only to find a blown engine. If it comes with the parts and you have the time and patience, go for it. If not, I wouldn't put a dime into that thing.

Chasing down and fixing wiring issues is my most dreaded part of automotive repair. How do you feel about your wiring skills? If you feel comfortable with repairing the wiring and the car isn't rusted, I'd say it's worth fixing if you like and want to keep the car. I doubt you'll be able to fix it and sell for a profit though. If profit is what your after, then part out is probably best.

Check the car over for rust in the most common areas, the front strut towers, rocker panels, trunk floor, rear suspension connections, and the rear body braces. I'd do a compression check on that engine if you can.
