Alright guys, I hate wheel discussions, but here we go. Is anyone running these Volk TE37 knock offs? The brand is Avid1 and the wheel is called the AV-06. It is the best looking TE37 knock off Ive seen. The only concern I have is the offset. I want the size 17x8 but it only comes in a +35. The 17X9 comes in +42. Ive read that +42 would be better for this car, but I already have a rubbing issue. I do not want a 9" wide rim forcing me to run an even wider tire. Currently I have 225/40-18 on the car. I want to drop one size and go with a slightly smaller tire. I feel like the +42 would be better I can use spacers to correct if it's too far in. The +35 would be less room to play with.. However, the rim is the dimensions I want for the tire I plan to run.

Thoughts?

No experience with those specific wheels. Personally I pretty much run stock size wheels (MSW by OZ 17x7.5 +35) after having a hard time with 17x8 +35s with 225s with 1.5" drop and PA roads. I had enough occasional rubbing to drive me nuts and that's with rolled fender lips and a HD camber kit (washer stack spacers). They'd also rub the knuckle sometimes on hard turns. Hell id even get rubbing on the front fenders hitting highway potholes at 90mph. Just something to consider when researching.
Those wheels were used and I got them cheap so it was just frustrating more than anything. My buddy owns a used wheel store and even swapping tire size didn't help much. But when buying new wheels and tires I didn't want to regret my decision so I went stock size (actually i think stock is only 17x7) to avoid problems and I think it looks great. The .5" difference in width makes all the difference to me. Im also a fan of wheels that look like they could've been OEM (hence my choice of MSWs on my 96-only have one pic, the gray wheels, also tire rack had that color only on clearance for ridiculously cheap, like $75 a wheel) with the proper sized pattern drilled instead of universal sized wheels with all the stupid extra mounting holes. The wheel you posted looks good and follows my preference as well, just not a fan of the color. If they offer it in a 7.5 option I'd get it instead.

My car is burgundy and I think the bronze would look great on it. Something different. I wouldn't want them on a red, white, or black car. I think the +35 in 17x8 seems like a good choice. But I'll see what others chime in with.

17x8 +35 is the same size as an Evo 8 or 9 wheel which has been proven to fit the 2G chassis without issue, so looking for that wheel in that size will be a good choice. I have a17x9 +42 on my WRX and it's a perfect fit but the stock offset on a Subaru is between +55 and +53 so switching to a +42 for that chassis makes it flush.

Running 17x9 +42 on your 2G might not only find issues with the wheel/tire rubbing on control arms or strut/coilover but also your calipers too. Have you done an searches to see if anybody is running a similar size and offset?

Its ok, I want the 17x8 anyways. I have a set of tires in 17" I will be putting on temporarily. I'm satisfied that +35 is good to go. Thanks!

Hello, sorry to bust in. I am new in this world of DSM, and I need help. A buddy of mine is selling his Volk TE37 and I am interested in buying them, they are used but in good condition (He is selling it because "they do not follow the line of the car", I think he is selling them because they do not fit in his car LOL). The sizes are 18x8.5 with a +35 offset.

Will those fit in my car? Its a 1998 Eclipse GST

You can check on Fitment industries they have several cars with that size and offset. I only looked at one but it said no rubbing on their profile.
