Not sure about it being a Cusco mechanical. Theres another manufacturer but the company name eludes me at the moment. Ask Canadian_cd9a, he will know as hes had just about every dif availible in his possession at one point or another.

That's who I got it from. :)

I see a center listed in the Cusco diff list for EvoI-III
http://www.cusco.co.jp/en/pdf/L.S.D._mitsubishi.pdf

CD9A,CE9A LSD143A 2-way Type-MZ
(Note 8) For GYMKHANA.

All pics on net of LSD143A are generic tho.

The Tarmac diff looks like part# 510 020 A

You have an ATS center diff. Kaaz is a spin off company from ATS (or it might be the other way around??). Therefore the design are identical and all that was changed was the way the casing bolts together to call it there own.

Your plates should be interchangeable between ATS and Kaaz. I was quoted $290 for new plates. You could also upgrade to carbon plates for better slip.

Pulled this from an email to ATS for rebuild it. He also translated the original Japanese documents for me. THE ATS guys are very good to work with in California. I use there diff in the rear of my time attack car.

Metal R7A13-3056 $290 including the air shipping

Carbon R7A13-57 $740 including the air shpping

Thanks for the ATS info, but it is not an ATS.

The ATS assembly diagram is identicle to Kaaz diagram.

Here are the differences I can see.

Both the ATS/Kaaz have notches on the outer casing. The top and bottom section look like they are keyed to each other.
They also have small washers (#2 ATS) that aren't in mine.
The cone washers (#3 ATS) I have one on top, but I have a ring that looks like a clutch plate on bottom (no fingers, or notches tho)
Kaaz uses straight grooves on one plate, and rings on the other. The ATS pdf looks like they use the same.
Looks like that ATS is 1.5-way (The B in MCB8210 means 1.5-way). Whatever I have is 2-way

The biggest difference is the clutch plate sizes.
From the pdf ATS=82mm (The "82" in MCB8210)
Kaaz would be SS discs=81mm
This thing the biggest OD=73mm

Here is some of Canadian_CD9A's other diff pics:
These have the keyed top/bottom. Other then the extra grooves, those look more like the ATS/Kaaz PDF's

Can't edit.... found some pics of the insides of a Kaaz DBM2010 front diff for Evo I-III.

Clutch discs look different, pressure rings don't have grooves in them, and those small washers. These parts might be different sizes to fit inside the diff case, but they wouldn't have changed the surfaces this much.

I have an ATS. This is is not an ATS. @pksystems is right, there are notches in the outer casing where the gear cutting of the ring gear notches it.

I learned something new. didnt know cusco made such a thing. 35/65 split sounds like fun. how do you like yours?
Love it. Car drives like a RWD. Rotates nicely under power, but the front still helps pull you out of the corner.

why did you get one?
Years back I blew my stock center diff. Was looking to get a 4-spider when Charles (ACM) recommended the Cuso Tarmac Gear 35/65 based on his own experience.

This diff is no longer in production though and impossible to find unless you come across a used one for sale.

yeah I looked around and saw they were discontinued. I think it wouldnt be that fun in my car though. my car is only 2500lbs with light volks and 205/50/16 tires. it would likely spin the rear in a straight line. would have to turn power down and go back to 2.0 for it to be fun. it is not actually an LSD. its an open diff with 35/65 split. my car paws for traction with three lsd on board.

I'm selling my Cusco 35/65 if anyone is interested!!

As kmetiuk noted, not ATS (I had that one too). I'll check with my contacts in Japan, maybe Kaaz Japan will say something different. It's possible there are different discs in this diff, some of them interchange between manufacturers.

So to dredge this up from the shadows, but what's the bottom line? Will 2G non-LSD axles work with an Evo 3 diff? I read the thread and I couldn't find a definitive answer unless I missed it. If an actual answer WAS posted, I apologize for bringing this up. Thanks!

It's an awesome thread. So no worries. I'm currently redoing the whole back half of the car so I'll be doing the rear diff soon.

It's a fantastic thread indeed. Not sure if I passed over any definitive answer. Just trying to make sure it'll work.
I believe from what I have read, the Evo8/9 LSD is a bolt on for the non-LSD diff guys. That's what I'm going with anyways. Anyone with more knowledge want to say definitively?

I swapped the crown wheel onto an evo 3 clutch type rear lsd and it dropped right into the non-lsd dsm pumpkin. The oem non-lsd axles seemed to lock into the diff fine, but I haven't driven the car yet.

I did post this data to this thread, but doesn't harm to post it again.

Evo diffs up to 8/9 will fit into any 2G diff housing - possibly 1G as well, but I've only worked with 2Gs.
2G non-LSD axles fit Evo diffs perfectly. Neither side 2G LSD axle fits - one side appears to, but the splines are an inch short and get chewed off pretty quickly.
Evo inners fit onto 2G LSD axle shafts, allowing 2G LSD axles to be used with Evo diffs
2G axle shafts have different splines on the inboard end, depending on whether they are LSD or non-LSD shafts, so you cannot swap non-LSD inners onto LSD shafts, or Evo inners onto non-LSD shafts.

Perfect timing, I was just looking for this info, going full TRE on the rear diff this winter.
A quick search doesn't find any aftermarket rear axles, LSD or otherwise. Gonna search for Evo axles next.

There are aftermarket axles, but I believe only for OEM LSD and non-ABS last time I checked. Wouldn't be a bad upgrade for the axle shaft though, considering I've broken several with just T25 power.
