I have a 420a on a stand I bought a week ago for the build so I can leave my current engine stock, I'm wanting to know if there are any kits that include low compression pistons, rods, fuel pump/managment,injectors and turbo complete with piping oil lines ect, I want it to idle nice and run smoothly without engine lights, please tell me the best way without telling me 420a is a daily driver and that it is better to get a 4g63 because I don't want one, I want to make minimum 220 hp, max side of 250 so not looking for nothing huge, any help is appreciated this is a great forum with some great people but there's always a few that gotta pitch in their trash, and I just wanna say that's fine but I won't respond to such rubbish, thanks in advance, chrissy

There is no kit that you will find. You will have to piece it all together.
Can you advise anyplace online to order specific or all parts from? I see your n/t to are you 4g64 (spyder) or 420a, I'm trying to turbo my 420a, red car in my signature, thanks.

I see so many turbo 420a cars on here, if anyone can help I'm looking for the brands and strength rods and pistons to get so I can run some decent boost, if the bedplate and crank can hold up, I want the rods and pistons to, I think I'm gonna try 2gnt, allot of people here don't realise the 420a is just as much of a dsm as a 4g63,

This is an old post from a memebr here, hope it can help you if you do decide to turbo your 420a. Good luck with the build if it actually goes through.

Cool! Thank you! I'm definitely going to do it I have an engine on a stand waiting, nice cars BTW, I'm going to start a build thread soon I just been so busy with work, I am keeping the car stock besides the engine, do you think the engines base will hold up? The transmission be strong enough? Gonna start the build thread once I start disassembling the engine, which will be when I get the parts needed to put in it, thanks so much I'm going to read through, do you have any suggestions on where to order? Thanks

Truly I personally dont know much about the 420a platform as I personally haven't owned one.
The link I provided was from one of our members from here a while ago, so you can use for reference on parts mentioned such as pistons,, rods and others.

If your goal is 220-250hp, I dont see the transmission being much of an issue as many other cars originally N/A have been turboed on stock transmission to those hp levels without issues. Just do a lot of research and know for sure you understand you are confident doing it.

Just texted someone on a gst they will let go for 1k, supposedly only has a dented rear quarter and a broken tail light and faded paint, interior is mint and says everything works, it's 4 hours away is it worth it to buy if it checks out mechanically? What should I check for? And should I keep my other cars if I buy this one? It's a 98 gst auto edit also it has zero rust

Have you actually sat down and though it through money wise?

I don't think you realize engine components, machine work and turbo parts are going to cost you over $5000 easily. You are much better off selling the NT and using that money to buy a gst/tsi. You can find them for $3-4k in decent shape. After that it will only take a couple hundred dollars to make the power you want with out messing with engine internals.

Is it stock and has all the maintenance been performed? If so, I'd consider picking it up.

It's stock I'd doubt it's been maintained, doesn't look abused just has sun burnt paint frome the south where the owner got it from, and a busted tail tight and a 2x2 dent next to tail light corner interior looks mint almost like new inside

After some thought I might just rebuild my extra engine for a turbo as I can afford until it's done, my reason is I don't want to have to buy paint, prep the car for paint, wet sand, buff ect I'd rather do the turbo 420a, build thread I'll start tomorrow if I can seeing as though I'm a new member, I appreciate everyone's help significantly! I understand I'll spend more but I feel it may be my best choice right now especially when you consider the fact that I sold this car April 2016 and bought it back in may 2016 with a blown head gasket (they didn't tell me) it was no wonder why it had a new radiator the girl didn't know that driving the car home would ruin it with no antifreeze! Even if I had the mid range my spyder with the 4g64 has I'd be happy, 4g64 pulls so nice! If I up the compression and go name what hp numbers could I be looking at? It's almost fast enough LOL. I'm sorry for posting allot I just really like these cars and think I overthought this a little much, hope that's okay and hope to be able to share my knowledge with others. If anyone has any suggestions on my engine swap I'd appreciate it, basically should I turbo or not and should I up compression and go nt or not, and where to get parts for good price, oh yes total stock rebuild on my engine is also an option lmk what you think:aha:

If you are set on keeping your cars. It's easier and cheaper to turbo the Spyder. All the turbo DSM parts will bolt up and you won't have to do any engine work. Lots of people turbo the sohc engines. Most of the info is on the Galant forums but they are dead over there.

Basically you just need some stock DSM parts:
DSM manifold
14b
O2 housing
Down pipe
Intercooler w/ piping and bov
Injectors
ECU
knock sensor...etc

$1000 worth of parts and some careful shopping and you'll have reached your goal.
These are basically throw away parts on a dsm so you can get them cheap.

I'm picking up the gst Wednesday what things can I do to make it faster? I looked at the dsm buying guide someone suggested gonna let it warm up fully the shut it down, anything in particular I should check on a 4g63t? BTW I decided I'm going to keep my current two cars as well

I bought a gst it needs a paint job badly and the rear strut tower is poppd threw the rubber grommets, not sure how to fix that but car has 0 rust any wear, everything works missing a few interior parts, this the only pic for now till tomorrow I just got home from getting it was a 12 hour run 650 miles round trip

Hereis a pic of it

I know you already got a turbo car but if you want to still turbo your 420a at some point look into using an SRT-4 short block from a neon. This would give you all the lower end parts you would need for a boosted engine. As well as you'll have a bigger motor. It wouldn't be 100% bolt in and done but it is possible

Thanks for the advice, do you think the 420a head would fit? Because then I could easily somewhat get the engine to fit easier. BTW enjoyng the turbo car, now I see why everyone says go 4g63 or don' expect to go fast without spending more than another car, I may keep my two n/t s stock and keep getting probably like 40 mpg, not saying that' what I'm getting but a guesstimate, the turbo car guesstimate would be 25-30 mpg, but has so much power that at lights I get up to speed probably 30 seconds sooner without stepping on either car LOL, I honestly didn' know a turbo dsm was this powerful

The 420A head will fit a on the 2.4 block. It's been done before on a lot of the old turbo mopar cars (Daytonas, Caravans, Ect) when they swap to a 2.4. If i can find one of the build threads I'll post it here. There is a difference in the heads & block between earlier and later 2.4's so I can tell you you would have to get an early block for sure and the head will bolt right up. Cam gears have to be flipped and a few other modifications have to be done, but if your good with a wrench it wouldn't be a hard swap.

BTW when your trying to source an engine some PT cruisers also came with the turbo motors

Thanks very much! I' going to build my engine this winter and save the one in my car for backup, I'm going to look for an SRT engine and use the engine in pic for its head

Hey ran into a problem with the gst the window guild wheel is broken off, I can' find these listed anywhere, where do I get a replacement? If I go to a junkyard can I remove one or will it just break?
