I have been looking for a set of RM Sway Bars for about a year with no luck. The ST Suspension Sway Bars do not fit with almost all aftermarket exhausts. Does anyone know of any other options for a 2G GSX?

I think the only options left, outside of part outs, are the knock-offs on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/GODSPEED-FOR-95-99-ECLIPSE-FRONT-REAR-SWAY-BAR-SUSPENSION/161623305677

Of course, that ad says it will fit a GSX but it shows a photo of a FWD so who knows.

Depending on how bad you want swaybars, you could always run a modified exhaust that will fit the ST bars.

I have considered both of these options. I am also skeptical of the ebay bars because the picture is a FWD, and I may end up running ST bars down the road if nothing else comes up.

Machv still has the front bar:

But I'm sure it's the rear you want.

Yup, you got it.

However, I've talked to someone who recently had an old RRE 25mm bar replicated. I plan on getting this if everything works out. Of course, this might be too much bar for my stock suspension setup. But that will absolutely change down the road.

yeah we need more options. how do custom sway bars work?

More then likely solid... But would be nice if it were hollow.
I can't remember if they were hollow on my Evo a few years ago.

A 25mm rear sway bar option would be nice.

I guess hollow is harder to bend and control tension or something like that maybe,

I actually emailed Dan from MachV a few months back about remanufacturing the RM sway bars. He said if there was enough interest he would consider producing them again. He also said the last batch he made did not sell very quickly.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to email him again and get some specifics. How much is enough interest? Price point at say 20 vs 30 or 40? Will be watching :thumb:

If I'm not mistaken the st bars claim to be for both awd and fwd, so if an eBay bar claims to fit awd I'd be wary if it's not OEM exhaust.
I picked up used st bars for my fwd. Even though they were on a 97 GST originally I still had to grind some meat off the rear so it didn't rub on my 96. The powder co at was also completely rusted and needed refinishing. The way the rear bar sits will probably drive you nuts.
Point is even though I have st bars and springs they're very overpriced and I would never buy them new for the quality. Try to get adjustable bars if you can. It can make a huge difference in handling. On an awd I'd probably just put adjustable on front and a 3g bar on the back (supposedly it does fit awd, post #44)

There are still 2 problems with using the 3G stuff.

Not designed to clear the exhaust on an awd...

Rear arms and sway bar will bolt on, but the exhaust pipe will have to be moved a little to clear the sway bar.

Not a good design like the RM bars...

Note the off axis load point for the stabar link on the 3g LCA. This reduces the effectiveness of the Stabar. Rather than twisting the stabar, the load can twist the LCA on it's bushings.

RRE used to make a 25 mm rear "man bar." haha

This guy here just had one replicated.

So i thought you could not weld sprung steel? Now its brittle and looses its spring to it? Maybe im wrong but i dont know much about sprung steel and what can and cannot be done

Yup i was right, uppon googling if its not treated and properties are restored the steel is now super brittle and can break by the weld, and powder coating also messes with the steel if its not normalized, well thats what google says anyway

I had actually spoken to Dan on the phone like around January or February this year.
I was thinking of giving him a call early this next week.

I'll reach out to him with an email this weekend. See if we can get something going.

Front and rear sets or just rears?
