My exhaust is looking like Swiss cheese and sounds like a Harley. I got another month or so until inspection is due, so I need to replace at least from the Cat Back for now, at most, the whole system. I want to know what my options are because I'm not really looking for some high performance exhaust that is going to destroy my wallet, something that is just stock is fine; price is my main objective.

Yep, generally. You can get an eBay system for a couple hundred if you want, but an exhaust shop will be about the same and just as good usually.

Well, I guess it can't hurt to get an estimate; but I imagine with labor included, it's going to cost significantly more.

Another option is to find a used exhaust system. I see them all the time on various classifieds pages for 200ish for a name brand used catback or turboback setup.

I just got off the phone with a shop. He told me that replacing an exhaust from the cat back will cost from $320 on up, depending on the vehicle; so no, it is definitely not cheaper.

I always run like a 84 dollar ebay cat back, they're cheap and steel so they won't fall apart. the guy's at the shop won't make any cool bends on them b/c they're steel so that's the only draw back, no side slanted exhaust.

I don't see any catbacks on ebay that have 2.25" piping south of $350; been looking for quite some time.

I'm not excited about the 4.5" fart blaster at the end of it, but if the one I bought bolts on, I'm okay; it'll pass inspection. If I don't like the sound, I'll just cut that off and weld on a normal muffler.

I priced it through RockAuto and this is what came up, just for comparing. $271 and some change for just pipe and Cat.
And the LAST pipe for AWD it says, so anyone with a 2g AWD.......

What's wrong with 3" piping?

Well, my stock manifold and my catalytic converter don't seem to like them. I want something that will bolt in and actually pass inspection. Not sure what all the rage is about 3" pipe. I mean, most of us use our car for daily driving; not taking to the race track.

there is an ebay 2G exhaust I found for under 200 bucks.... 3" stainless from cat back... might be what I use to pass inspection every year when I'm not running a 3" hood exit.

Not for a GSX though. I haven't seen anything for a GSX south of $350.

I bought the 3 inch ebay srs for my gst it was 199 it sounds too good to be true but it fit awesome I installed in my driveway during winter. Don't be afraid of ebay for exhaust and intake pipe. it's tough to mess up a 3 inch pipe LOL. hasn't rusted yet either. my awd I bought with exhaust sounds great I can't tell u price tho. best of luck
