Well recently picked up a summit white 1992 Galant VR-4! The car is far from perfect and will need a lot of work to get it back up to being a reliable daily and reach my power goals! My intentions are to create a 400whp vr4 that I can use as my daily, I don't drive far so even as a daily it won't have much usage/wear.

Original Condition:
I picked the car up roughly 4hrs away knowing that the price was one I'll likely never see again, I knew it needed work but finding one that can drive for the price I did is very rare.

The Bad:

Needs a windshield, wiper wiring is bad(at least that's my impression so far), fuel leaks(pretty sure it's from the hanger as it only has 1 stud left), and has a leaky brakeline. Body is sub par as the hood is dented and the front bumper is held on by zip ties. The rear bumper sags some and from what I've traced on the history of the vehicle it's due to a homemade bumper support.

The good:

Car drove the full 4hr ride home without any issues outside of the no wipers!! The paint seems to be coming back fairly well after a lot of work using rubbing compound, polishing compound, and carnauba wax.

Short Term Goals: I plan on getting the hard lines for the brakes replaced by a shop as soon as the titling process is complete. The windshield will be replaced. I will be drilling and tapping the studs for the gas tank so it can get a better seal. If I can get/afford to finish all this before May 6 then the car will be going to Streetcar Takeover Indianapois*fingers crossed*

Future build:

After those are done it will be time to start on my 400whp build!! The car already has forged internals so it should be fairly well prepared for the power. The current plan is to convert the car to e85 aka injectors, rail, flex-fuel sensors, dsmlink v3 not sure if I'll be able to do the power I want on a walbro 255 still need to do some research. I plan on picking up an FP68hta to mate up with the FP Manifold that came on the car! Straight pipe will be going, I'll keep the 3" downpipe but downsize the mid/tail pipe and install electric cutouts(always something I've wanted to do, but not justifiable on the Talon)

Those are the general details, I know there will be a few more things to do.

Restoration:

I plan on picking up the first deal I see on a fiberglass/carbon fiber hood to replace the dented hood. I will be repainting the black trim as it has seen much better days! Hoping to fix the front bumper so it is no longer ziptied on...

*will be adding photos to journal soon

Well finally got around to detailing the gvr4, many hours later here is the result!!!(Didn't really do the bumper as I will be either buying a jdm one as they don't need a bumper support or I will be taking it off to put on the missing bumper support....) Took hours to do it as the paint probably hasn't been touched in the past 24 years, had to start with rubbing compound then polishing, then carnauba, but it came out pretty damn nice!! A few scratches are now visible, but at least it shines and looks like new!!

Still working out titling bs, but I believe by next week that'll be finished. Also windshield was ordered a few weeks back so that should be coming in any day now!

Well engine bay still makes me cringe from all the wire that the previous owner mangled, but at least the center of attention won't be a peeling blue valve cover, think the wrinkle black w/polished letters turned out pretty nice!!
Also in other news, the 1450cc Injectors have been installed, still need to pick up some fittings for the aeromotive a1000 fpr, mounted the map sensor but need to route a boost/vac reference, looked into finding my fuel leak issues(still working on that)...

Well here's a much overdue update with the fuel cell that I installed. As you can tell it's streetcar sized but it fit well and still left a little room in the trunk for my detailing supplies along with a little space for groceries!! Still need to hook up the fuel gauge I bought but for now I'm just checking visually every once in awhile... Next step fixing a nasty bit of idle surge...
