Hi folks, last fall I was rear ended by an uninsured driver in my 98 all wheel talon. It received body damage in the rear and I now need a donor car. I have a lead on a rust free gsx, but it is two hours away. I know the gsx would be the correct metal to cut from and use as a donor.

If I could find a gs that was local I would go that route as long as the body is the same. So basically that is the question, can I use a gs donor car?, or would it be best to start with an all wheel donor? I work in a body shop and will have the help of a 65year old tech before he retires. For some reason I though two wheel drive trunk pans are different than all wheel, if im not mistaken. That's what got crushed the most is the trunk pan. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I think the only difference on a GS would be the front subframe. To my knowledge the trunk pans are the same in all 2Gs. The AWD ones have different rear subframes and gas tanks but the sheet metal is the same.

Good to know, thanks. I still might go and look at the gsx tonight and see if I can get if for a couple hundred bucks. I need to grab rocker panels and strut tower metal too. But if its not much of a roller Ill find a gs on craiglist for $500 all day long with blown trannys or motor.

The tail light mounting brackets will be in different positions but they can be cut off and welded into the correct ones.

...the spare tire well brackets aren't the same. The AWD has a full size spare, after doing my AWD swap when I put the full size spare back there it wouldn't bolt down.

I think I vaguely remember there are two trim pieces that go in the trunk on AWDs in order to level off the trunk floor panel (I think it's wood) and the spare tire flips upside down. So it's no longer sitting in the floorpan belly. I never knew why but now that you mention AWDs having full sized spares, it makes sense.

Ok nice, I knew something was different about the trunk pan, I just couldn't think of it. I went and looked at the gsx last night. After looking in the hatch I found that the rear body panel in that car had been smashed too. Sucks that I drove 2 hours to find out it had a salvage title, I just asked if it was rust free :/ I guess I will keep my eyes open for another car closer to me.
