Well I learned today that the first shop I went to was a bunch of bs. They wanted to replace parts that didn't need to be replaced. But about the flywheel comment its when I go to start it, it makes a lot of noise and all the people that are into cars when they hear it they cringe but it starts up fine. I was assuming maybe the teeth are chopped up. Theres a new starter and i dont have a flywheel cover so I guess I could take a look myself

Cars with automatic transmissions don't have flywheels. The automatic equivalent to a flywheel and clutch is a flex plate and torque converter.

I am intrigued by the previous owner using the transmission he did. The W4A32 transmission, if that is truly what it is, is for an AWD car -- an AWD car that was not a DSM as DSMs used W4A33 transmissions. The FWD turbo auto transmission is coded with F4A33.

People have been converting AWD manual transmissions to run FWD for a while so I suppose it is possible to convert an auto AWD transmission to run FWD, I've never thought about it or heard about it. In any case, it would need a matching AWD torque converter and flex plate to install properly and to fit the bellhousing. The FWD components would be too large.

So the disc part I see in the transmission housing (I don't have the inspection plate cover) is the flexplate? I'm trying to figure out why my car makings a grinding noise when it starts because I thought the teeth were chopped up on the "flywheel (which I guess isnt the right part)" and the mechanic that looked at it said flywheel but I guess thats not it at all. Probably why he was having a hard time finding one.

Could I possibly add you on something so I can show you because I'm confused about this transmission and I'm still trying to figure out what the heck its from and it's ok to be used. Like you said is an "AWD" tranny but if you want me to show you it I can. I want you to figure this out this mystery with me.

I look for that later today when I get my car back hopefully from the shop. And I'm assuming thats on the bottom side of the housing by the oil pan?

That's on the top, it will be below your thermostat housing.

Ok I know where now. Ill see if i can get my car back in an hour and look on my break.
