1G Wheel Sizing help!

Thanks in advance for the help..

I'm currently running (modified) Ford Mustang wheels on my 1g. (235/45r17 Michelin Pilot Sports). It's time to buy new tires. Lately I've moved away from street driving and more towards track days (drag racing). Looking for tire recommendations that will be streetable and add a little more grip for straight line use. I've owned bfg drag radials in the past with good results, just wondering if there's something "newer" or "better" out now.

Car is a 1gB with eibach sportline springs. 2" or so drop. AWD / 5 spd. Small 16g at 22psi (300hp or so). Wheels are 17x8. Don't know the offset. The 235/45's clear with no issues currently. They are from a 1996 mustang.

I'm a little confused by your title, are you looking for help picking out a new wheel size or a proper streetable drag tire?

Sorry I'm horrible at explaining sometimes.

I'm running the Pilot Sports now on my car, but it's time to buy tires (3/32's left). Looking for options on a better "1/4 mile" usage tire, that's not a full slick, and can be driven on the street... 225 - 245mm size range width.

Looking for mostly a tire, but definitely open to wheel suggestions as well, as these wheels are HEAVY!

I am running Nitto NeoGen and could not be happier (235x45x17).. They stick when they are supposed to in all conditions, I know the price seems kind of cheap but trust me they are GOOD..

Oh, BTW I got a good deal during Memorial day on those tires and some nice TSW's at DTW, not bad for the price..(160 ish per)

I'm not opposed to Nitto. I'be driven a friends car with a set and (tbh it was fall so a little cold), they didn't hook well...

Yes, they are definitely a "summer" type tire, when I said all conditions I meant "race" conditions only.. I have been very happy with mine during the summer they are rated at 260 on tread-wear so much better warm..

Yeah I understand that.. I saw a few posts on evoM about M&H radials, but nothing really saying yes or no.. just everyone saying they are new and supposed to be great.

I suggest you look at Nitto 555 or the NT05 if you want something "streetable" but a great performer at the drags. MT is another tried and true, but I have a lot of experience with Nitto and really like the quality for dollar reward.

I've had 3 sets of M/T ET streets, they either got hard quickly (less then 3k miles) or didn't hook in the front (when launching)

Good point, the Nitto 555 are a great tire for a non-daily driven/weekend street/strip warrior, I like the NeoGens for a DD/Every once in a while Strip/Spirited driving which is what my car is most of the summer..

I'm afraid to go to a straight drag radial at the track because I hear all the horror stories honestly.. it's not easy to find 1g rear axles anymore..
