I never knew wheel and tire shopping was so difficult LOL.
Anyways I have some that I think I like and hopefully work per the recommendations.

I loaded some different vehicles into tire rack and I found a wheel for a 94 Nizzan 300zx that has 17x8 with +38mm offset 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Not sure why these are not displayed for a 98 eclipse gsx.
Enkei Falcons 17x8 +38mm offset

Then there is the Enkei SR6 17x7.5 with +40mm offset. They are not 17x8 so idk if these will be good for the recommended tire.
Enkei SR6

and lastly there are Enkei LS-5 18x8 +40mm offset bigger than the 17 so I am kinda shying away from these although I like the looks of them.
Enkei Performance LS-5 Black Painted

There are plenty of 17x7.5 that I like but I was trying to stay in the 17x8 and just doesn't seem to be too many that are 5-9 spoke that I enjoy. LOL

Thanks for your time.

PS I will be using the Kuhmo AST you recommended. 245/40/17 once I decide on a wheel.

With all these Enkei's you posted you might as well get some Enkei made EVO VIII or IX wheels (17 x 8 +38) and call it a day.LOL

I wouldnt mind the evo 8 or 9 wheels but I cant seem to find any unless you mean just wheels made for the car and not the stock evo wheels.

Also I dont have the stock wheels. Mine came with some craigslist 16inch. They are missing one of tbe center caps and all have damage from scrapes. I plasti dip thrm to get me by LOL.

So I will search for a 16 inch winter tire even though I wanted to avoid that.

As far as a summerntire goes I still want a 17x8 +40mm offset. But can I use a 17x7.5 +40mm and still use 245/40/17
An 18inch wheel would be nice too but I dont want the extra weight and cost of the bigger tires.

If yiu got suggestion of good looking wheels and tires let me know. Since the Ast is out the window now LOL.

Yes, I meant the stock EVO VIII and IX wheels which just happen to be made by Enkei. They actually cost less than every Enkei wheel you linked but of course shipping to your location may be costly, unless you don't like EVO VIII and IX wheels LOL

I am having no luck with finding stock set of evo 8 or 9 wheels.
The 17x8 are also hard to find in a set I like.
WIll these work ?
Enkei Falcon I cant find a DSM using them though.

There are a good amount of enkei's in a 17x7.5 with 38-43mm offset. Are those wheels a suitable wheel? If so what tire to go with it?

I am willing to adjust ride height, and use spacers if need be.
I want a nice looking wheel with decent tires.

This is frustrating LOL.

Essentially I want to run 18x8.5" wheels with a 235-40-18 on my 1g. I do not have rolled fenders, and would like to avoid tire poke. Will a +38 offset achieve this, or am I going to run into fitment issues with these rims and tires?

Looking for some assistance on picking the correct dimensions for a set of 16" OR 17" Rota Slipstreams. Also the best tire size to run for a 99 GSX that is street and strip driven. Currently running the factory 17" rims with 215-50-17 tires.

Thanks!

I'm thinking 225/45/17 or 235/45/17 if I can fit them under the car being lowered an inch or so with ground control/koni yellows. This is going to be a weekend/autocross car only. Tires will be Hankook Ventus RS-3.

If I can get 235's under the car and on the 7.5" rim I'd be in heaven.

Let me know and thanks in advance!

I'm currently running Evo 9 wheels with 235/45/17Ventus V12 evo... looking to fit 255/40/17 tires on the same wheels.

just wanted to know if I could mount this size tire on the wheels with no rubbing. Or if I should get another set of wheels 17x9 with a lower offset.

255s have a tough time fitting on 9 inch wide wheel as is, you're not going to fit a 255 on an EVO wheel unless you're going to be drastically bulging out the sidewalls, and going to adversely effect handling.

My old Evo 8 with stock wheels rocking 255/40/17 Falken Azenis... didn't bulge to my eyes...

Now I know a 255 tire can most definitely fit on a 9" width wheel with ease. I actually prefer having a 9" wide wheel maybe even a 9.5"... I prefer a meaty looking tire.

i run a 235 45 r17. they are called triangle talon tires LOL i know, talons on my talon. anyways i have a small amount of clearance between the tire and the knuckle but they fit. idk what my offset is but they handle good with no camber problems. im running stock suspension components all the way around. the rims are motegi 16 spokes.

I have test fit my EVO 9 BBS wheels they stick out to far i have not put it up on the rack yet to see if i just need to adjust the offset on my next set of rim.

I am going to buy a 18" rim with as wide as i can go. The main goal with this is contact patch. I need to go with 18" because it gives me more Pzero tires to pick from which is the brand i can get a good deal on.

I have 255 and 235 width tires around on my EVO 9 and aftermarket snow tires for the evo i can test fit but i was wondering if anyone has experience with coilover autoX 18" rim width and offset.

There weren't any 16x8 oem wheels made for our cars that I know of. That said, I wouldn't go anything over a 235 on a 8in wide wheel anyways. Short answer to your question: no, it won't fit safely.[DOUBLEPOST=1408497563][/DOUBLEPOST]TIRE SIZE RECOMMENDATION REQUEST FORM

Well long story short (not), I currently work for Discount Tire and was able to pick up a set of 17x9 +40 TSW Tanaka's for well over 75% off during a blow out sale they had for DTC employees today. There weren't many left in our bolt pattern so I wanted to jump on them quick. After some quick research on here and EvoM I was left without any definite answer other than I may need 3-5mm spacers in the rear. So based on that and the limited supply I decided to pull the trigger. My car is currently stock ride height but I do plan on a full poly suspension bushing upgrade and FEAL coilovers this winter. I don't plan on ever lowering the car over an inch as it's just a weekend warrior that occasionally sees the strip or an autocross course. Does anyone have experience with this offset? And if so did you manage to squeeze a 255 in the rear without spacers? I was hoping to fit at least a 245/40/17 without spacers if not a 245/45/17. The tire in question is a Potenza RE-11A. Thanks in advance!

PS-before you say why didn't you just look this up at work..the TSW rep swore that fitting a 9in rim on a DSM was near impossible, and nothing like this is in our computers fitment guide.

255/40/17's on Evo 9 Enkei's with Koni Yellows and GC's worked mint on my old 96 Talon with no body mods.

Interesting. I know the 95-96 have even less clearance than the 97-99 in the rear. My only concern is the difference in the fact that it's a 9in wide wheel with a +40 offset as opposed to a 8in wide wheel with a +38 offset.

Keep in mind he said no body mods and also didn't state the offset of the wheels he was using. He might've had a wheel with a lower offset which would allow it to work. I have Evo 8 wheels (+38 offset) on my 2ga and only had about 4mm clearance to the rear knuckle with a 245 tire.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/wheel-and-tire-sizing.359629/#post-152189873

My brother has 17x9 +35 wheels with 255/40/17 tires (RS-3's) on his '99 GSX with no mods. If he went with a higher offset (e.g. +40), he'd have contact between the tire and knuckle. He has 4mm clearance to the rear knuckle with the tire section width being 10.2".

If you tried to run the same tire on your wheel as my brother, you'd have contact because of the offset. I'd recommend looking at the section width of the tires you're considering getting and seeing if you can calculate if any 255 tire will fit. Some have smaller section widths than others, so you might find one that could work. If not, you'll have to run a small spacer in the rear to clear the knuckle.

I'm spinning all 4s on a 225/50r16 sitting on a 16"×6" rim and i think a 245 or 255 would fit the bill on a 17"×7.5" or 17"×8" rim
but I also want to do a bigger break upgrade like EVO 8-9 or CTS-V soonish.
And keep 17"rims
What offset do I need ?
I don't like spacers...
I'll do 18" s but I'd rather not...
Basically my car is faster than I thought and I need more grip at wot and hard breaking ...
Along with added stopping power...
What's the point of having all the power and No traction or breaking.
My 225/50r16 tires on my car are basically black adult chalk for the freeway...
Help please and thanks

Right, 245/255 fit fine if your on soft shicks you will need to roll mainly the back because it will rub, coilovers not so much if at all depending on spring rates,

You wont fit a 245 or 255 on a 7.5" wheel, it has to be 8"+ i have 255 on a 8.5" wide wheel and 255 is the safe max. 245 on an 8* wide, offset needs a minimum of 38 for brembos, but spoke design comes i to play aswel! So pick wisely.

Look for sticky tires and you wont actually need wider wheels but yes 17" is pretty good for the DSM's and i say go with an 8" or wider if you can but you will need fenders or roll depending on setup!

Is there any forums I should read as far as rims that do fit ?
I was going to get NITTO NT555 G2 235/45r17 on a 17"×7.5" offset? +35?
Or 245/45r17 on a 17"×8" rims offset?
Or 255/40r17 on a 17"×8.5" rims offset?
NITTO didn't want us to have a 245/40r17 in the nt555g2 or I'd know what to do.LOL
All I really want to know is if I lower my car 1.5" and drive on gravel roads how bad will a 245 and or 255 rub?
Or will it ?
How much do I need to roll the fenders?
Because I'd love to see some references .
If its going to look weird or rub at full steering lock I'd rather stick with a 235 on a 17"×7.5" rim...
I'm trying to get this all dune tomorrow.

Haha good luck onnthe speedy fix but it wont happen, things take time to setup and check,

I cannot tell you hownmuch to roll or if it will even rub because it varies car to car, thats when you get it on then you find out the final issues if any!

235 on a 35 ofset will be fine,

255 may rub if your that low mainly on the rear but it depends on shocks and springs and how stiff they are,

It al varies and its not easy to say it will or wont do this because as i said each car gets final setup differently and acts in a different way,
