Hello I got this idea from a Car Design I seen... I want to take the Airbag Unit out of my Passenger Side and replace it with a Docking Station and Holder for my TABLET that I want to run ECM Link on.. I want to do this because I wanna be able to Tune On the fly plus use it as another Screen to watch whats going on in my car...

I Have a 10 In Samsung tablet on it I want to run ECM Link. I was wondering if there was a way to do this by Constructing a docking station and weld it in to the dash board or to just contruct one out of wood and drill into..

I can Get ECM link to run on my tablet I have an IT person I know working on installing it so that is done.. just need thoughts on how to wire it up and keep it functional without flying out when I launch..
Thoughts..

P.S. NOONE RIDES WITH ME WHEN I DRIVE UNLESS they are going to meets its a WEEKEND warrior status.. SO BEFORE I HEAR DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!! YES I KNOW.. NO AIRBAG BAD!!! what did the world do before airbags.... OH THATS RIGHT WORE A DANG SEATBELT!!! Sorry Snowflakes...

P.S.S still love yall... :)

Make sure the battery is disconnected. Open the glove box, push up and turn on the two plastic outer tabs that drop the glove box. Then you'll have clearance to the airbag where you'll see four bolts I believe should be 10mm. After the bolts trace the airbag wiring to a red tab, undo the tab and the airbag comes out. I pulled and swapped two dashes last month its a pretty straight forward ordeal.

Dont mind the quality of the picture, but the yellow tubing that goes to the red tab is what I'm talking about.

Question, I have asked on the ECMLink forums but never got any answers, I guess I was to late after having been out of the game for years due to the car being parked while I was away. But what's needed for getting ECMLink to work on a tablet? Is their a list of tablets or OS that works?

Ecmlink will not work on most tablets unless it is a window based tablet with an Intel processer.

Sooo is there like a list of known models that work and aren't $400 or does it just require a gamble on anything with a USB port, intel processor and windows OS? I don't like gambling!.....i'm to poor for that shit.

As long as it has a Windows OS and a USB port you're fine, why would ECMLink care what processor's on the MoBo? LOL

Link also works with Mac OS too, it's just not as user friendly and they don't have USB ports.

Because it has to do with ECMlinks architecture and how it is not compatiable with the cheap stripped down ARM processor in most tablets and requires x86 processor to run, like an intel processor in the surface pro. Or a cheaper alternative is the Asus transformer T100ta

My Acer Iconia with Windows 7 (2012), 2gb RAM, and a 1GHz AMD C-50 chip runs ECMLinks architecture just fine. It's nice because I can pop on the keyboard to the bottom of it to tune with or if I'm just logging I use the tablet.

By all means though, if you feel like dropping the money on a tablet with an Intel chip is necessary I'm not going to argue. I work for and have stock with Intel so I appreciate the job security. :thumb:

I said Intel chipset because it is usually more of them around so it's easier. I then go on to what he really needs is a tablet with an x86 based processor which is exactly what your chipset is. ECMLink requires the use of Java VM, in which case most ARM based Android processors do not support. With that said, make sure you do not get a Windows RT tablet.

Also, that Intel based ASUS transformer T100ta I posted is cheaper, faster, and has more memory than the one you posted.

Blindly saying any windows tablet with a usb port works is completely false.

Technically you could but at 7 inches there's not going to be much resolution to read that data log properly.
