Hello Dsm'ers

I am back with the Engine Finally apart.. Well the Head from the Block.. SO after some muscle and FUEGO (Fire) I got the ARP studs out YES THEY ARE ARP!! woot.. I got them off and pulled the head off and THIS IS WHAT I SEEN.. I think the Number 1 Cylinder is the one closest to the Flywheel Side.. Well UNO is kinda gross.. Slag and Carbon Buildup?? idk.. as well as on the Head as well as you can see by the pictures..

Just as helpful info, the #1 cylinder is closest to the timing belt, not the flywheel ;) If you do the flatness test for your head and block, and they're in spec, and there's no signs of abnormal wear, the condition of both should be fine. Just clean them thoroughly or have them hot-tanked for reassembly.

Those are good videos to watch, I follow his channel. If you ever need a clutch adjustment, I think his video on it is much better than the one from Jack's Transmissions even though everyone seems to like that one.

That tool he's using to remove the valve seals in the last video; I'd be nervous of scratching/scoring up the guides especially if your impatient. I've always used pliers and small hook tools with caution. Have never had any issues with this approach,
just my $.02 GL

-Angled hose pliers from my MAC set to be specific, it grabs around the external part of the seal, no risk of damaging anything

Ok Here are the pics of my Intake and Exhaust Ports and WOW there is a lot of buildup.. What causes this and is this Fixable with Hot Tank or what can I do to get it down to look new again? Wire Brush around the Valves? I wanna do as much as I can to clean it and restore it unless I have to have things sent off to a shop.. Any Suggestions greatly Appreciated..

First 4 pics are the Intake I believe and the last for are Exhaust..
