Hello folks, this is a review on the BSFab side exit exhausts that are sold on Facebook. On my current DSM I've really been inspired to make the car as light as possible (removed the brakes and seats but that didn't last long). The guys at BSFab have been marketing their exhaust products on Facebook for a while now including o2 housing, manifolds and the side exits.

I've been unhappy with the Thermal R&D turbo-back that I bought used last year. I had a brand new thermal R&D system that I bought in 2004 for $900 (a lot of money back then) and I enjoyed it then, but this time around it's banging on everything including my DSS aluminum driveshaft, and it's pretty damn loud. I finally decided to give the side exit a try.

Car: 93 AWD Talon with 18G turbo

Product-BSFab 2.5" side exit exhaust

Price-$300 shipped to your door. Does not come with a 2.5" gasket.

Wait time-I think it took me 10-14 days to get it

Cons-There aren't many negatives. The exhaust sticks out from the bumper about 2" and it doesn't look great like that. I'll Probably chop an inch off at some point in the future. Considering the exhaust exits on the driver's side , it gets really loud when there are objects/cars right beside you on the left. The sounds just bounces between the cars. There is a little window from about 2,500-3,000 rpms where the exhaust gets a little drony (probably not a real word).

Pros-I dropped 37 lbs going from the Thermal R&D turbo-back to the BSFab side exit....and I now have no possibility of banging noises coming from a damn turbo-back! The idle is really nice. It can be loud if someone is parked next to you on the left but from anywhere else around the car it's not terribly loud. It's a nice throaty rumble to it, unlike an obnoxious open downpipe. You can sincerely drive the car around and not be an annoyance or have your head hurt like an open downpipe. It also comes with an o2 sensor bung welded on already in case you decide to run a 2nd sensor.

WOT- this things sounds mean as shit at full throttle. To me, it almost has an exotic quality to it. Very nice aggressive sound when you are screwing around at 5k going on a back road feeling the car's torque.

The build of the exhaust is excellent. I couldn't find any imperfections and the it was super easy to install. Just buy yourself a hole saw and cut your hole in the right spot (unlike me). The exhaust travels under the oil filter to the bumper as seen in the pics.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. I dropped 36 lbs, the car sounds like a beast at WOT, is nice at idle and is manageable around town. Plus, you can hear the turbo winding down. Can't beat that.

Glad you're happy with their product. I wanted to purchase one a while back but a couple peopled warned me that on their page there were a ton of people who were saying how they got ripped off and never got their money back. Since there's so many scammers these days and you don't know who's legit anymore I decided to back off which was unfortunate because it does look like a nice piece.

Sometimes I wonder how are you people running side exhausts and driving around town without a cop pulling you over? I wouldn't be able to drive an inch from my house without a cop fining my behind just because of it, and I live in a place where almost everything goes and "vehicle inspections" are a joke. It's my non streetable racecar that has a side exit and turning it on just to get it into the trailer is like opening the gates of hell. My neighbors "love it"...

Nice review, I was unaware of this outfit until now. Looks like they make some pretty cool stuff.
Did you see any change in VE at WOT?

As far as cops and a side exit go, I've lived a few houses down from one of my towns cops a couple years now and he's never said a thing about it to me. I just take care not to start it real late at night or too early in the morning. Loud vehicles are pretty common where I live though, and my side exit is pretty tame compared to some other local musclecars and diesels.

I'd expect a straight pipe of any kind to be loud and drone like. Theh are race exhausts not intended for the street. Lol so is this intended for stock turbo stock o2 housing setup?

Are the welds purged?

Looks like a decent piece

These are really nice. We were running a 3' chopped off downpipe two foot past the flexpipe and Boy that sucker was loud. The 2.5inch side exit is waaaay quieter, no reverb where the car became a giant speaker. The side exit is really not nearly a loud as you would think until you do a two step and then its still not as loud as our old stright pipe under the car.

I was wondering when Branden's stuff would make it on here...I believe I was the 1st 2g with one (2.5 to 3in). His welding has definitely improved since I got mine but I paid significantly less and it's heat wrapped so no worries there. I had him cut mine at a slight angle so as not to look too far out from the car. Anyone interested in sound clips pm me on facebook (Tyler Schroeder, the one in Atlanta, GA) I've got the dyno clip and some idle ones. *Edit* As far as cops go, I've gotten nothing but thumbs up from the guys in Indiana.
