As much as, I really enjoyed pipe welding and such. I always knew that I got into welding because of cars and my passion.

Just got a job at TopSpeed Motorsports! And even though I will be making a lot of parts for GTRs, the dsm's are still my thing :)

Unfortunately, i'm the only welder/fabricator here, so there will be a lot of very long nights and weekends....

I know the giy you are replacing LOL, well ive talked to him

Some pics from this past weekend. Welding up DSM LCA's.

I tried to get some video (WTAT style), but they didn't turn out as cool as I thought they would. I didn't realize until after, but Jody must shield the camera to be able to see what's going on at the puddle. I'll try again next time. :)

What kinda tig cups do you use? I have a WP26 torch and bought some ebay lenses (because surely they can't mess this up) but they don't work for crap. I ran the same gas CFH with a traditional ceramic cup and welded just fine then switched over to the lenses with the glass cups and it squeals/smokes/spatters like crap.

I can feel the argon coming out of the cup but somehow its not shielding adequately.

What size cup are you running? And what is the regulator set at?

Did you make any other changes? New tank, new back cap, etc?

The worst gas lenses I've seen weren't great for a flood cup, but worked fine with a traditional cup. There's not a lot of ways to screw up a gas lens.

Nice Welding cast is always controversial.... What was your setup?

Pic attached of the ceramic cup (with standard collet body) and the gas lense collet/glass cup I was using. Ceramic cup is size 6. cup was 12mm I think. About 10-15 CFH and no other changes besides swapping out collet/cup.

I'm guessing i can get some ceramic cups for the gas lense and save some gas at least if it doesn't work with the clear cup which I don't care for much anyways.

I weld it at my job, they are nice enough to allow me to do my own weld jobs.
-I used a ceramic gas lense cup #5, as for rod I used an AMS5786 which is Nickel alloy. The welder itself was a Miller Synchrowave 350lx.

I didn't preheat, so it took me a bit to weld it as I was welding it quarter inch at time, to prevent cracking or warping. I'll be welding my downpipe and dump pipe soon.

That looks amazing! Nice work

Was a very sad day for me yesterday at the shop, the skyline came out of my bay :( Now, one of our top techs is going to start finishing it up and getting it ready for the dyno.

This was by far the biggest build I've ever done and was even surprised the owner wanted me to get this car done from start to finish. They have other more experienced venues they could've gone with.

Aluminum is not my biggest strength but here it is anyways

The discharge pipe

Had to modify the compressor cover and throttle body to accept the vibrant flex couplings

The cold side was a little tricky too, but manageable. I didn't have to use the pies on it but the owner wanted me to put some in. I didn't mind either :)

The catch can that is designed to flow for 1000 hp and not spray oil all over the engine bay. Unfortunately, I can't show the insides

This car is setup to attend a lot of car shows in the future.

It wasn't the easiest project and there were quite a few sleepless late nights here at the shop. A lot of little things that are not in the pictures...

I'm going to try to take some pictures after it's fully assembled back up before it leaves the shop!

Super jealous you got to work on an R34.

How is it even in the states right now? I know motorex was importing them until they got shut down. From what I read all the skylines from that were impounded.

Yeah, I got to spend a lot of time under that car. Lol

TBH, not exactly sure on the details about it. I just know it's completely legal and a very beautiful rare car for sure. ;-)

Thanks man

Just got done welding on a 1g DSM fuel tank for the first time. Not too shabby.
