I've posted a thread similar to this topic but I felt I should just make a new one. So my turbo 420a 1999 eclipse is having this problem where anytime I really step on the gas to get boost or go wot, the engine completely shutters and shakes like crazy and will do so untill I let off the throttle. It does this radomly at times where sometimes I can go full boost with no problems.

When the shaking happens it seems to be very violent, my rpms do fluctuate somewhat when this is happening, so it makes me think it may be the clutch not being able to hold on. However it will still happen sometimes even if I ease into boost very very slowly, it will get around 5 psi and then suddenly shake and stutter. I already changed the entire if it system, coil, wires, and spark plugs gapped to .028in. I haven't checked or tested for boost leak but I'm not sure how a boost leak or vacuum leak could cause something so violent as this. At idle however, my boost gauge only reads around 14inHg of vacuum. Idle is sort of rough as well.

Thank you for all of the responses!

Id tell you, but its been covered a thousand times. Took me 6 bucks to make my own. Google make a boost leak tester dsm. And how to perform boost leak test dsm. Piece of cake man!

it doesn't sound clutch-related but who knows. BLTs on turbo cars is an absolute must. You HAVE to make sure you aren't leaking air. It solves probably 75% of the problems with these cars.

Check that your air/fuel values are okay, and if they are fine, I would try to lower the spark plug gap down to 0.6 mm.
