Well I was wanting something different and I've always had V8 stuff and being i work at a mitsu dealership I have seen some fast cars come thru so I stumbled across this truck and 3 months later this is what i ended up with. The motor is a .020 over 4g64/63 6 bolt with hks 272's in a 1G head with +1 valves and behive springs, Top mount short runner manifold that I built with a old school precision gt35r bb, 3.5 inch down pipe and Aluminum exhaust, JMF street intake with the runners shortened 2 inches. 65mm throttle body and DeatschWerks 1500cc injectors on E85. The trans is a TH350 with 3500 stall and the rear is a ford 8.8 narrowed to fit.

ECM is a Megasquit ms3x with custom cam and crank triggers

Right now with 30 psi is runs pretty well on the slicks but street tires is.......well if you like during 300 ft burnouts from a 50 hit this is the truck for you.

The turbine housing is too small and has issues with compressor surge over 23 psi and under 5K so I have a turbo being built that should make 650+ to the tires and at 2750 lbs it should be a fun street car. Oh and I built most every custom part on it and there is a bunch.

It looks really clean man, I finally bought an "88 Mighty Max 4WD a few days ago, I always wanted one of these older mini-trucks haha, its a shame most automakers these days just want to keep one upping each other, via increasing the amount of metal and weight they throw at their current day truck offerings... as a result we have an absence of current day mini-trucks it's amazing how trends have sometimes killed-off other great concepts.

This thing is bad AF. If I ever get rid of the Galant, I'd want to build something like this. Awesome work.

Nice work, interesting setup with the crank position sensor! Can you go into some detail about that?

Well I believe it's never a good idea to run the crank sensor off the cam and since I have a megasquirt I just had a 3.5 inch 36-1 wheel cut and i turned the center out on my lathe to fit the spacer behind the timing belt pulley and put a few tacks on it with the tig welder and then built a bracket to hold a hall effect sensor, The cam sensor is just a steel allen screw tapped into the back side of the exhaust cam pulley that passes another hall effect sensor mounted on top of the valve cover and that gives me full sequential with individual cylinder timing and fuel trim.

Yea it's really sad that all the cars and trucks anymore are just heavy pigs and they all have to make 700 plus hp to maybe run a 10 sec pass.
