Hello,

I just bought my first 2gen eclipse gsx auto. Here is the issue. The car will only go in reverse with the TCU plugged in.
But when I put into drive it has no other gears they just free rev like it's in neutral. If I unhook the TCU, I then can move the car forward but I have drive and reverse only limp mode.? Where can I send my TCU to have it professionally tested?

Thanks,

Alright I put in another tcu and the problem is the same. I have no forward gears. Just park and reverse. Is there anything I need to check? I can take photos of all the wiring hooked up.

Also is the 95-99 automatic all the same?

No it will have drive and first. I am trying to find photos of all the plug ins on the tranny so I can make sure they are hooked up right.

Can I get a visual reference of the actual plugged in connectors ?

I been searching to no avail. Maybe I'm just not putting in the right key words?

Ok here is the update with what I found out. First, it is for sure missing a flex plate bolt. It started making a rattle noise. So I need to find a bolt to put in there.
I am wondering if the person before me even spun the converter in all the way? I also ran a multimeter test to read the codes. Problem is I am having trouble reading what it is trying to say. Maybe someone here can read it ----> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OHp8JUEYFCg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Thanks,

I have an update. I took off the transfer case and it did not have the rear tranny bolt in. I went ahead and replaced this. I unhooked the flexplate and turned the torque converter and it spins very easily. It makes no noise. The transmission appears very clean. The three tranny bolts in the transmission are made to fit by someone and I think they are to long. The torque converter is bright yellow. I have never seen that before. The transmission code on the transmission is
W4A33 EV-S. I hope that is the right transmission. Can someone verify what it is from? Also, I need to locate where all the relays and fuses are but I'm missing the covers to the fuses. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Update! Checked Tps all is good. I pulled all TCU codes. Only codes found was from unhooking the solenoid pack while running.

Reset the TCU. It appears I have had all gears the whole time. What it is doing is when the car goes in any gear 1-3 it actually moves but at any rpm above idle it
will kick out of gear as if it is in neutral . With a quick flick of the key off-then-on gears come right back. I have no codes in the TCU I get an all clear.

Im not sure where the issue is unless it is somehow the actual ECU or Kick Down servo? Any Input?
