I'm running out of reasons to keep my Talon, I want something a little newer with a little more torque so I've been looking at maybe an 03-04 Mustang GT. Yes, the ones with the slow modular.

Thoughts? Mods are in my profile, I've considered bring it back to stock when I sell.

Didn't see any injector size so assuming your running stock injectors, just upgrade your injectors and get a tune for with the current 16g you have and it will make more whp depending on fuel and who tunes it. you'll be a lot faster then a mustang v8 '03-'04. I've gone through different cars and also come back to the 4g63 platform for a reason easy to make power and tq

Thanks for the input. I do have a fresh set of EVO 9 injectors with brand new seals on them that I was planning to throw in. I've lost interest in it though, even if it made 350whp it wouldn't matter.

All my other cars are V8s and I've gotten used to the feel so when I go back to the Talon it's not as fun. These cars are getting really old and I considered holding onto it until they appreciate in value but not sure when or if that well ever happen.

Here in California they stay around 6k and above for a decent condition one. As far as tuning the 16g buy some 750 or 1200s and go on e85 if possible. Reason you feel the difference is the compression of the two engines (4g63) (general v8). Boosted do feel a little laggy compared to a natural aspirated v8. Difference I noticed was when I removed my cruise control throttle felt more sensitive and still kept the boost I love now. Another thing is mpg can still be good on a 400whp plus dsm versus a v8! With no boost I could manage above 25mpg long trips 30mpg. Especially now with the spyder I purchased.

Problem with the MPG argument is my car goes through gas so quickly, it made me wonder why I have a 4 banger in the first place. After visiting Europe and seeing how a 2.0l is a "big" engine there, I realized how much cheaper and less expensive it is to own a big V8 in a America than anywhere else in the world. IMO the small amount of less MPG is worth it to me to have a superior engine design. My other two cars have a 4.6 and a 5.6 V8 and they are so much more enjoyable even both being automatics.

Yeah I always had V8's and when I decided to try out a dsm I thought that I would save on gas.LOL Man was I wrong...800hp corvettes can get mid 20's mpg too as long as you keep your foot out of it. Problem is I cant, so even though its a 4 banger I'm always boostin so for me I don't get good MPG when I drive.

If your set on getting a Mustang then go for the Saleen svt cobra. Man those things are sweet. Pricey though. I spank mustangs all day on my gsx and even some corvettes. I get the torque factor though but to each their own. Perhaps if you mod your talon a little more to take potential of the 16g it may change your mind. I don't ever plan on selling my gsx. The r1 will go before this.

If your bored now wait till you get a 03-04 mustang. Theyre slower then slow. If your going v8 its got to be a ls1. I'd throw in those injectors and crank that boost up. Maybe even throw in some good cams. The talon will be way faster and more fun then the mustang. Plus with the mustang you have to worry about always crashing into crowds of people. :sneaky:

I have indeed made my mind up LOL sorry guys. Yes the GT is kinda slow but I have lots of hills in my town and my car never spools fast enough. I get that I can make more power but it's a bunch of other factors, like I'm really starting to feel the age of the car.

I wish I could get a Cobra :D

Have you ever ridden in or driven a AWD DSM with 350whp?

Me, or the OP? Just want to make sure.

Because a well setup E85 16G DSM has torque and power for days and I think is arguably the most fun "pure street" setups you can have. Especially like my old 1G had with the properly actuated Cyclone IM which helped with 40 extra lb/ft of Torque down low and 300-400rpm faster spool. It's not going have the torque of a V8, but seriously not boring by any means. Speed density, E85, Cyclone IM, solid E316G setup, and you'll have throttle response for days, not to mention fast spool, and the notoriously "hard hitting" MHI turbo jackhammer when the power comes on.

OMG.....such terrible information. Why is everyone hateful against the new 5.0s? They are remarkable! The Coyote motor is not your grandma's Mustang. They run 12's bone stock, have a bulletproof engine that can make 1000whp with little to no updates! This is my buddy's 5.0. 2011. (former dsm'r btw) He has had it since it was brand spanking new. 1000rwhp+. There is no comparison to a DSM in terms of power/torque and drivability. I have ridden in it and my VR4 is no slouch so I have a very good comparison. Which cars do you think were dominating at the WCF? We have several "street" Stangs around here that run 7's with full interiors! Try that with your DSM. The 2011 Mustangs are awesome. I would keep the DSM and get a Mustang.

We don't take too kindly to mustang folk round here LOL. Jk. Mustangs are great. Newer mustangs are not a proper comparison to a 25 year old car. That can be compared to an evo. To go fast for cheaper which one will be a better budget build?

My comment was directed at the OP.

The new ones yes!! Absolufreaknlootly yes! But the gen he's looking at are utter and complete garbage of cars. The SN95 gens were a joke, the only decent/good ones were the shebly and terminator models. If he aint getting a f-body or a 2010+ then mustangs aint worth looking at imo. But im also not a mustang expert soo..... My opinions are just that opinions.
