I've never seen one.

I know they have a single one for the top of the steering wheel, Do they have a Dual one for the steering wheel?

more air will be forced out of the side vents with the center vents blocked off. you shouldnt notice too much of a difference. In the winter here, I almost always have it set to windshield defrost/floor setting. Set it to that ans wyou wont even notice theyre gone. :)

I believe they make some with only 2 gauges that do not block all the airflow.

They do make these. Usually there are slots cut horizontally in the middle of the pod so air can move through. The vent pods with 3 gauges totally block the air and ive heard of some people saying it fogs up the gauges almost like a condensation on the inside of the plastic.

Op, I also would love to have the cluster gauge pod like the 2gs, unfortunatly I believe our dash would never accept something like this due to its design.:sosad:

They also make a gauge pod for the radio bezel. I believe ill be going this route.

I really like the look of the 3 pod radio bezel. I think someone should re-invent the shifter linkage cover to incorporate like 3 gauges into it at a slight upward angle facing the driver somewhat... I think it would be sexy!

Only down side to the radio bezel gauge mount is that the angles don't allow you to get a good reading with just a glance. Wish someone would make one angled up and toward the driver more, like is available for the 2G. Perhaps with gauges on top instead of the radio/whatever slot, too.

The vent mounting location would be okay if you only had two gauges you really wanted to keep an eye on, with the slots in the middle. Never been a fan of using my gauges to block off hot air.

There was a topic just last night about the "frog eye" mounts for the steering column. There's a link in it to some gauge cups by Auto Meter that would work. But I really wish we 1G guys could forgo all that and just get our hands on some cluster bezel gauge pods. Hint hint, guys with fiberglass skills. :sneaky:

As far as having the gauges fog up while running all 3 in the 1g center vent, I've never had that problem because I completely blocked off the air flow to it. I did this by making an ABS cover for the vent passage and sealed it up with left over Window Weld I used on my center drive line hangar bushings. I would recommend doing the same thing for any center vent gauge pods, if anything, it should extend the life of the gauges. I never liked the idea of running hot air through the gauge pod, around the gauges anyways.

^ This has been my experience as well:thumb:

That would be the best solution. Do you have any pictures of yours?

I never looked closely at this picture but what is all the stuff under the radio? looks like 1 is a turbo timer and the other is like an audio slider bar for bass and treble... and a monster cradle?? LOL

That's a 1/2-DIN Alpine EQ, my Profec B Boost Controller, and a "Wired with Monster Cable" plaque I got over a decade ago to cover the other 1/4-DIN spot that was originally going to be a home for Greddy's REBIC3... but that was before ECMLink was available.

The 3.5" long smoked Plexi to the left of the rear wiper & defrost switches is my remote-mounted HKS Injector Pulse Monitor... Not that it is really useful now though, as I actively log injector duty cycle via MMCD on the Palm in real time or whenever I have the netbook hooked up via ECMLink... Again, older generation of tuning methods that are just too cool to just yank out IMO..

HKS IPM displaying 100% duty cycle OMG

let me see if I have any pics of the blocked off vent... It wasn't all that hard to make actually, just start out by making a template out of thin cardboard & trim to fit... I used a couple of screws through the inner vent housing to provide support for the block off, then just made the real block off out of 1/8" ABS plastic. Follow that up with the window weld and you've got a sealed center vent block off :thumb:

_______

Sorry 90TSi717, I don't have any pics of it on file... I did this mod back in 2002 and the only pics I have are of the moded HKS IPM before it got remote-mounted. If (more like when) I go in there again, I'll post up some pics though. -Over the years, I've grown tired of the 1g's orange illumination and I'm looking into converting it over to blue LEDs, so it could be sometime soon :)
