I am going to be buying a clutch for my current build. Planning for 400whp eventually so I need a clutch to grow into. id like one that lasts, can take hard driving or launching anytime I drive it, which is only about 4 times a week, maybe less. Also, I'd prefer a PP with low pedal effort so that I don't have to rebuild pedal assy's.

I'm leaning towards South Bend but am not sure which PP or disk is best for me.

Any suggestions?

If you are going to be launching regularly, I'd go for the full ceramic disk. You could get away with a SS-series pressure plate, but if you intend on going up in power or doing alot of track launching on a prepped surface I'd go for the SS-X pressure plate. If it is going to be just launching on the street and really little track time you could likely get away with a TZ/B dual friction disk if you want the smoothest engagement for daily street usage. I have had a bunch of 500WHP daily driver street cars on SS-series pressure plates with TZ/B disks, but if it's going to be seeing prepped track launches I'd definitely go with the SS-X pressure plate due to the added traction shockloading the clutch.

Awesome thanks guys. SS-X with TZ-B seems to be what I'm looking for. Should I resurface and step my stock flywheel or just spend a little extra for a chromoly one?

I had like 375ish in my old talon and ran a 2600 act with a sprung street disc. Slipped real well off launches I was running 1.6 60 foots my first time ever at the track.. Also, launching daily but low rev limit at 6500 the trans and clutch lasted a year n a half. The only reason it messed up after that is because i got an unknown shop to do the clutch and it was nothing but problems since. It didn't help that I reoordered a 2600 and they sent me a 3200 or something because the pedal was ridiculously heavier... I dont know if the shop did something or they sent me the wrong one because atc doesn't label their boxes, so be sure to check your part numbers before install. Just an fyi.

Your call, if the stock flywheel is in great shape with no fracturing, cracking or warping and you want a stock feel, then go with that one. Otherwise, go with the Competition Clutch chromoly steel street flywheel (it's lower price than the ACT streetlite).

If you want a clutch that can hold power but with a light feel then go with the SBC SS TZ/B. I've got about 150miles on mine and still breaking it in, but this thing is so effortless. It takes a while to get used to how light it is, but now traffic jams are a breeze. Help a fellow dsmer and buy through our man Tim :thumb:

I've peeled an onion or two.... I've sold probably 800-1000 to just DSM'ers from SBC over the last 8 years, let alone a few hundred more with other vehicle models.

I'm also the only one selling any of the custom clutches like the SSTZ/FE, SSTZ/B, SSB, SSXTZ, SSXTZ/FE, SSXTZB, SSXB, SSXDXDB, as well I have the pressure plate diaphragm fulcrum release point, friction surface prep of pressure plate, and disk hub marcels are assembled to my specifications. I have had a long standing relationship with SBC as they have been the ones to work with our community the most to make a great product that fits the wants and needs of the customers. Even when we want to make a 700AWHP/650TQ AWD monster a daily driver that can drive like a relatively stock low pedal pressure engagement with smooth yet posititve engagement from the clutch disk, all while handling heavy stop and go traffic, daily driver usage, and heavy abuse from launching on unprepped and prepped track surfaces. All while lasting. Any other manufacturer would have already put you in a solid hub 4-puck or a twin or triple disk clutch assembly and expected that you sacrifice streetability. That's the difference.
