Hello, I just recently encountered an issue with my 95 gsx. As I am driving and I go to make a u-turn I feel a thump type feel/noise and I am not sure what it is. It only does it when I make sharp left-hand u-turns so today I jacked up all four wheels in the air, put into first gear while it is on, all tires spin. And when I turn the steering wheel to the left all the way it sounds normal with no issues but when manually holding the driver side front wheel is when I feel/hear thumping. When looking down at the transmission and axels from the engine view point the whole motor and tranny move left to right coinciding with the thump. It almost "seems" as if an axel is popping in and out of its seat but visually it isn't. There is no grinding or scraping noise, neither is there any leaks of any fluids. Car drives just fine going straight but when I make a hard turn the thump sound and feel is present.. I tried spinning the wheels one by one as the other 3 wheels are on ground and all is
normal. Even removed the transfer case to eliminate the rear diff and issue still exsist. Checked wheel bearings and all tie rods, bushings etc and everything is good on that part. Thanks in advance.

Put a jack on your subframe and jack it up and see how much it moves if the stock rubber bushings are completely shot it would allow a lot of movement

I did that already. Was one of the tests i did as i mentioned in the post. I removed the transfercase to eliminate the the rear diff and rear suspension components.

Anyone ever experienced such thing? I'm at loss. I tried everything as far as using the test methods I've read on the forums too see if the rear diff or center diff is shot but everything passes.

I think black gst was talking about the front subframe bushings. Not the rear. It would cause movement if they were deteriorated because the tranny mounts to the subframe.

Yea I noticed that after I replied. Ive already looked/tested all the motor mounts and trans mount. Think it can be a transmission problem? It just seems odd that it only does it when making u turns and/or holding the driver side wheel from spinning.
