Thanks for clearing that up paul i remember you saying something about the egr port, it will melt it right, or if you want use antilag it will melt it or am i worng.

I use anti lag but what exactly do you mean plug the egr? I have a egr block off plate?

Anti-lag will melt and blow out the nylon gasket. You'll need to weld the port shut in the head or tap and plug it. All the block-off plate does is bypass the need for an actual EGR valve. It still allows exhaust gas to travel through the head, past the gasket, and into the intake manifold. If you plug the hole in the head, the exhaust gas cannot reach the gasket to damage it.

Here's what mine looked like after it blew out around the EGR port:

Here's what it looks like drilled, tapped, and plugged with a 1/4" NPT plug:

Or you could weld it shut like I did. Either method is fine.

Im cutting to the chase and welding it shut on the exhaust side. It will help keep the hot exhaust gas from transfering heat to that side of the head and it being ported and polished so that that exhaust port will match the others.

I myself just blocked/plugged this port by force threading a 1/8th inch brass plug in with some sleeve retainer (400+ degree resistant). I can get the part number for the plug if wanted.

If you plan to use anti-lag, you'll need to plug the EGR port on the head. If you aren't going to use anti-lag, then you don't nee to do/change anything with the EGR system.

I did not know that had to plug the EGR port if you are going to use the anti-lag. That explains alot thanks

Jay racing also makes a heat barrier gasket. His is not made out of a plastic feeling material like the magnus so it wouldn't melt. I have it and it looks almost like wood. Pressed together. I blocked the port in the head as well. You can use a bolt as well. The head of the bolt will just fit inside the intake, this is what I used. The jay racing barrier may stand up better to melting/blowing out.

I've got the P2R set of thermal gaskets. Seem to be about the same as the STM. So far so good with them. I do like the look of the jay racing one's alot better than mine. Like dsmspick ^ said it looks like it would be stronger.

Bringing this thread back to life. The guy I bought this motor from plugged the exhaust port with what I think is JB weld. I can leave it be if you guys think it will hold up but I'm guessing it wont. If I want to get that stuff out of there I'm thinking I should drill it out and then maybe clean it up with a dremel??? I'm hoping all the shavings wont be hard to clean out of there.
