we all know the problem of properly warming up 4 slicks in an AWD DSM. Anyone ever tried spraying Nos in 1st gear or 2nd gear to warm up the tires? FWD guys do 2nd gear burnouts all the time, do you guys think spraying 1st gear in the pit would sufficiently warm up the tires?

You can't really just put nitrous on a kinda stock car, try upgrading your turbo and supporting mods first, a lot of us dont need nitrous to do an awd burnout. 2step launch control does just fine for most of us.

I dont know anything about your car or your knowlege level of these cars or cars in general, but usually it's a pretty bad idea to use nitrous without experience.

Even then, i dont really use the burn out box at all myself. Maybe with slicks itll be a different story

it was just a thought because i have never seen a John Force style AWD DSM burnout. i am building my first DSM but have been on the scene since 98. i mean it was just a thought, only seen very few DSM jump out the gate promod style.

Just an informative discusion. Plenty on this forum will say you dont need x, y, or z until your breaking the same parts continuously. Auto is the new thing and of course it makes sence as you dont need a massive burnout to hook as the drivetrain absorbs most of the shock.

My 2nd gen talon has a 8.8 live axle, welded diff, and shep stage 4 trans, fuel cell...the works. Just was wondering if anyone felt smokey awd burnouts would help awd slicks stick better

Things have changed quite a bit since 98, there are tons of dsms in the 10s, 9's 8's and a few in the 7's at almost 200 mph

Never seen an awd dsm john force? Check this out, it's old and jeff has gone 7's but this is always a great vid to watch, pretty sure he does use nitrous also.

Yes itll help with slicks to do a burnout, but again, you dont NEED nitrous to do it.

HOLY SH$T!!! now see this is what i am talking about. DSM's like that are far and few in between. I search high and low for this unspoken knowledge of sub 8 sec AWD's. plenty of knowledge on this forum, certain topics take days of research to find out.

Not flaming any member with 8 second DSM's, but we all have familys, jobs, and lives that come before our cars. Just sayin its kinda tough getting feedback from guys with FAST cars as such.

I have a GT35r for the car. I know that turbo wont get me into the 8's, but i just wanna over build my setup so that 8's can just be a manifold and turbo swap away...and of course countless hours of dialing it all in ;-)

Seriously have a look:

I'll be picking one up

Just remember, the less hot and sticky the tires, the less likely you'll break something in the drive train... So unless you're making gobs of power, let the AWD do its thing...

i opted for the 8.8 because the car audio installer/self proclaimed tuner that put in the rear fuel cell didnt refill the 4 bolt rear diff and of course the diff locked up.

then on that installers personal car, he was snapping rear axles left and right.

atleast on street tires and an 8.8 i could do stand still drift burnouts and shouldnt break any drivetrain...shouldnt.
