Hi all,

I'm nearing the completion of the 90' Eclipse GSX build and one problem I'm running into is this custom manifold that I bought off of a guy I know is giving some clearance issues. It is a ramhorn style manifold that has a v band wastegate pipe which protudes out and forward. With a Mishimoto it won't quite clear if we want to keep the AC condenser in place. We already have a few different ways we could modify...we want to leave the runners alone but we can shorten the wastegate fitting/pipe just enough to get it to clear. The guy I bought it from wasn't running AC.

Okay to the point. Instead of modifying this manifold we may want to go with a new manifold. It needs to be setup for external wastegate and t3. Of course I can find some cheap crap on Ebay and there are a couple of other options we have found so far. I just wanted to get you guys' opinion on what the best bang for your buck T3 mani is that is currently available. Thanks in advance for any feedback/advice.

Yes and yes! I appreciate everyone's responses! There are more options than I realized. And as for value I was considering $800-$1000 to be a good value haha. I just don't want to go spend $1300 plus like some of them are priced, but I would if I had to. You all gave me some other options I wasn't aware of so i'll be golden now.

Plus we may just shorten the wastegate runner on the custom one I have. It came off of a 91 Talon with a 6766 and nitrous making a lot of power....that thing was smokin fast. Not saying that means anything other than speaking to the quality of the manifold itself. That being said, I still may elect to go with a new manifold anyways.

Even custom is going to cost you $700+. I'll be having a good buddy down here make me one for a BW divided T4 setup and just materials alone are going to cost $400ish.

How come people think custom work is cheap???? Production stuff is cheap!

It can be. But usually that means local, non specialist stuff.

I had someone build me a Ramhorn Equal Length Runner manifold for a turbo Saturn a decade ago. He only charged me 185$ and lunch to weld it all up. I had to design it and buy all the weld els and make the cuts to get everything how it needed to be. I just didn't own a welder or have any idea how to weld then. Still paid less than 400$ for a custom turbo manifold.

I think there are a few reasons:

1. I think for some reason when people can see a definite separation between material cost and labor cost it feels cheaper as if the whole piece only cost as much as the labor.

2. A lot of production stuff is overpriced for what it is. In some cases you're paying a premium for brand alone.

3. In some cases it really is cheap because either they have a buddy who is willing to do it out of goodwill, or because the final product is sub par.

I don't know...those are my theories, but I totally agree with you. Production parts naturally have a lower cost due to repeatable manufacturing process whereas your manifolds all require your personal attention and TLC each time. I think you have your manifolds priced perfectly...high quality but not overpriced. As a side note I would like to thank you for continuing the support of this platform....it is starting to drop off and become hard to find some of this stuff it seems.

Hey buddy no problem! I live for this platform!!! Doesnt mean i wouldnt entertain other platforms but dsm is my roots.

Now that I'm a vendor i can talk about my manifolds a little, I'll be posting in the vendor section for manifolds as soon as i get my username change figured out.

My whole goal was to keep the price right, stm, jmf, etc all had a major price hop in the past couple years from 850-950 to1350 so i figured I'd keep it where it should be as long as i can, material cost alone does not warrant that price hike, because it hasnt really fluctuated too much in the past 2-3 years. That doesnt mean there werent other reasons though... Anyway I'm here to serve the community with turbo manifolds so let me know guys! Current production are the standard placement t3, and I'm in R&D for a the top mount t4 twinscroll. :)

How thick is that turbine inlet flange?

Do you just need the wastegate cut back? Not that i wouldnt love to sell you a new manifold, but i can shorten that if you did want to keep it

Yeah that's what we are planning on doing. I must admit that my Eclipse is actually at a shop in Arlington where they are helping me out with this. It's a long story, but basically I bought my 90' GSX in Dallas and it needed a rebuild. I originally bought a 94' from the shop owner and it turned out to have crank walk so I sold it. Instead of hauling the 90 GSX back to Lubbock where I live I decided to keep it there because the owner did the rebuild out of goodwill. Then it just sort of got caught there and I go back and forth with parts I acquire. Sadly I haven't done any of the heavy lifting on this one yet...it makes me feel guilty because one of the main draws to this hobby for me is the feeling of accomplishment after putting in some hard work.

Long explanation haha, but it's almost like I feel slightly ashamed since I am capable. To cut to the chase, those guys can modify the manifold and that is exactly what we are planning on trying is to shorten the wastegate outlet..shouldn't be a problem. I just wanted to find alternatives....now I'm salivating over your manifold but also trying to stay on budget haha. I seriously may grab the one with the logo defect just to have and swap it out in the near future.
