Hello folks, I'm rebuilding my throttle body and I noticed the plate isn't sitting at 90 degrees. If appears to be slanted maybe 2 degrees. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures. This orientation appears to be controlled by some type of sensor on throttle body which I can't find the name of. Is this something I should adjust to full 90 degrees? Thanks for any guidance.

That "sensor" ( on the top in both pics) is the idle position switch. It is also the throttle stop on a 1G throttle body. It shouldn't be adjusted so that the throttle plate is completely closed.

To adjust the idle switch, hook up am ohmmeter between the spade terminal and throttle body itself. Loosen the locknut and screw in the switch until it just makes contact (0 ohms). Screw it in 15/16ths of a turn further and tighten the locknut while making sure that the switch doesn't turn.

They never sit 90 or it would not seal correctly, they all sit slighy off and ive built qhite a few on these cars and they are all the same, before you ripped it apart did you not want to study it so you dont end up asking questions like these? Next time you wanna rebuild something look at it, document it and take oictures if you must! Just the process of learning your self

Actually, the engine is in the process of being completely rebuilt and I couldn't find the answer in the service manual. Therefore, I didn't just "rip it apart" and hope that a god like yourself could walk me through it.

Im no god by any means haha. I just look at what im about to take apart for rebuilding and i can then know what it should be like so i dont have to worry about if its right or not,
