420a was put into DSM to shift the "made in USA" parts count, to make it "more American'.

They didn't have such pressure in Europe, so the used NT 4g63 for that market. I can't believe they went through all that effort!!! Why not just sell 4G63 DSMs worldwide?

Fixed that for you.

It's always neat to see these Euro 2Gs with the non-turbo 4G63! Clean car, OP!

Wow! That's a N/A 4g63 in a stock 2g??? I owned a 98 rs and it was most certainly a chrysler 420A. Great engine btw. Drove it from 125k to 235k with literally one issue. And it was my fault.
Those poor 2g 420As tooka thrashing by kids cause they LOOK fast and most people couldn't grasp the fact that it was a 120hp motor and you aren't gonna get much more out of it(though i've seen one over 200whp N/A on the forums, lottsa money, lottsa skill, and a whole lotta time to do so).

It's a nice car and VERY unique with the engine. The fabled 2g 420A to 4g63 swap, which most beginners dream of and is not a practical solution? Well, unless my eyes deceive me you are 90% of the way there. You have a 4g63. If you're iwlling to invest a bit you will have a gs-t.
Now, the internals won't handle what a stock gs-t or gsx would but that's ok. You don't need that right now
This isnt a swap. European cars could be had 4g63 na

I'm aware it isn't a swap, Pauley. It's a EU market thing. Factory 4g63 N/A........... We here in the states got the chrysler motor. I've just never seen one before! Even a pic.
Like above said, why didn't they just do that for ALL the N/As even here in the states? There'd be a TON of spare parts hahaha.

I think Jim Holden (correct me if I'm wrong) had his feelings hurt since it was a "joint venture" and there were no Chrysler parts on 1gs. Solely a captive import.
Conversely, I am always amused when I point out to the unknowing that their Chrysler eagle talon esi (with chrysler 420a) has a "made by Mitsubishi" sticker on it.
It's funny, the project head (found in allpar article; I'll post in the hangout), the Americans were just gushing over the fact that the Japanese thought the Chrysler motor worthy of their cars, when in fact it was only political since the Chrysler motor obviously wasn't worthy anywhere else in the world.

I just noticed what appears to be a 2g turbo throttle body and intake manifold on a n/a 4g63, unless it's the same as a galant 4g64. Its been awhile since i saw one. I wonder what maf and injectors are on there! Very peculiar.

So I've been talking with the local garage on what can and can't be done.
apparently replacing the brake disks with perforated or vented ones is only allowed if you have written permission of the car fabricator, god forbid you try to make your car stop better :p

as for the turbo, he's being vague, no mention of wether or not it's allowed but he talks about how it'd be difficult and i'd need to change the electronics. "It's specialists work and thus hard to do here in Belgium.(possibly because noone specialises in turbo here)".

since the exhaust is in need of replacement (it'll last a bit longer but it's definatly showing its age) i might as well look into collecting the pieces I need for a turbo... IF i'm allowed to place one...

so how far along am I?
OZ Ultraleggera 17" rims with Toyo Tyres ordered.
Requested price on a KW lowered suspension.
Brakes will have to remain stock I guess, paint will have to offer a cleaner solution.
Turbo isn't completely off the table... yet. would work in tandem with an exhaust replacement and sport air intake
Will need to look into all the parts required to replace the bumper with the 2gb one (headlights, fog lights & mountings? anything else i'd need?)
Need to look into replacing the 3rd brake light, currently it's part of the rear spoiler but if I want to place the bigger OEM spoiler i'll need to figure out where the 3rd brake light has to go. (not allowed to remove it)
after all that i'll be looking into cleaning up the engine bay a bit, wiretuck & such, and the rest will be interior changes.

It took me 7 years to take the plunge and buy a 2g, not gonna waste another 7 years dreaming about what I can do with it.

thx for the advice so far!

well, turbo aint happening. biggest hurdle is the quest for paperwork. IF they let me do it I would have to re-register the car, get all the paperwork updated and renegotiate my insurance which is already higher than that of an average car.

on the bright side the problem with the trunk lock turned out to be a non-issue. the teeth on the key were worn, it still works on the doors and the ignition but the trunk wouldn't have it. switched over to one of the spare keys and works like a charm now.
tried to get the powered antenna to work properly but that wasn't such an easy fix as I'd hoped but since I don't listen to the radio it can just stay down for now, at least until I find a proper solution.

Thats some sad news, I've had some friends in belgium and there really isn't any way to change something without cost running to high... I've the same problem with the antenna, Only thing is that my motor is broken of it, I'l ask somewhere around if some people know what they would do for u

Edit; On the brake light i might got an answer, 2 friends of mine have the high rise spoiler and the 3 brake light, They have this square mounted on the glass of the trunk. Only im not sure where u can get this part. I'm going towards turbo on the end of this season, And indeed still looking forward the high-rise spoiler and the brake light, since it isnt allowed in the netherlands also (So long that i knew) to remove it

Greetings

the motor for the antenna works, i can hear it turn on when i stop the engine, the antenna just doesnt move, may be a loose gear or something.

I wonder where the 3rd brakelight is on the stock 2gb

I'm searching for a picture where i can post it, Ive u got some a moment (Together with friends we've got 4 eclipses at this moment so there's a lot of pictures '-.- )

hey everyone, it's been a while.

little update on the car, after my first annual inspection it turns out the car has a bit of a rust problem. most major issues have been dealt with.
with the summer ahead i've started planning the work i'll need to do and already ordered some parts.
2gb front end on the way, complete with headlights and foglights.
turbo spoiler also on the way.

aside from installing those i've noticed a few issues i hope you guys might help me with.
the black moulding at the top of the doors is flaking, been reading up and planning on stripping the rest of the peeling paint and repainting them with black vinyl paint.
passenger side door skirt is warped, no idea if it can be fixed or if i need to replace it
license plate lights are rusted out of their mountings, no idea how to tackle this problem

car still has a stalling issue, replaced the IAC but that didn't help, my guess it's one of the sensors checking airflow into the engine, but no idea which or where they could be.
other than that, the motor for the antenna isn't working but going to replace the antenna with a shorter, more modern one (hardly listen to the radio anyway).

any advise is welcome, especially on the issue with the skirt and the license plate lights.
