Hello Guys and Gals. Uh, basically I bought my third DSM / Money Pit. This one is by far the better of the previous two. When I bought the car I was a bit skeptical because the mileage was so low but the seller let me do a test drive, and he let me do a compression test, change the oil, spark plugs, and air filter. In the end I got a pretty good deal on a mint 98 GSX and I am excited to share my build story with you all.

Below I have listed my plans for this build I'm not sure I will get all of them done as quickly as I or you anticipate. The fact of the matter is I will try and deliver what I have laid out in my plans.

Head Liner Fix

I started my to do list on the car by fixing the headliner and ordering new carpet for the car. Sound deadning and heat barrier materials were ordered too. I wanted to get started on the headliner though so I ran to a local fabric store and picked up some head liner fabric and I grabbed some spray adhesive and gave it a shot. Here is my progress.

I'm finishing up some wires and interior pieces before I install the headliner back in the car. I found that a lint roller really cleaned up the black headliner material by the sunroof.

This car is super clean on the inside, the metal, the panels its been a pleasure to work on.

Head lights were restored with a 3M Kit off Amazon. It worked pretty good and I have enough left over to clean the brake lights and reverse lights. This post is going to be a little unorganized. I had ordered a lot of maintenance material and began installing it over the weekend. It was 100 Degrees here in FL, I was hot, greasy, and in the zone so I only took one picture.

Below you will find before/after for reverse light

Oil Pan

I was able to drop the oil pan, transfer case, ofh and alternator. I cleaned the oil pan and looked for any metal materials, turbo bearings ect. I replaced the OFH gasket as it was leaking, and I replaced the alternator with a 90AMP Galant. I painted the oil pan and transfer case aluminum and color in order to find any leaks. I used a small bead of grey silicone + the cork gasket to seal the pan.

I replaced the transmission fluid and the transfer case fluid. I also took my time and replaced 3/8 coolant lines to the oil cooler as they had began to feel gummy.
I used a RP Oil Filter and VR1 oil for the engine and the car feels happy with all of the work. Whenever I had a chance to I cleaned off any residue, oils, dirt so I can track down any leaks. I was loosing about half a quart every tank of gas. Now it appears I am not loosing any. I look underneath the car every morning, lunch break, and punch out to make sure oil levels is ok and to see if any residue has started to build up. Everything is looking surprisingly dry.

I will admit a few mistakes were made during my work however. First mistake is not having the proper tools for the job.
- Purchase an oil pump from the autoparts store so you can pump the fluids into the transmission and transfer case there little hand pumps and they work wonders.
- Get 13mm, 12mm, and 10mm gear wrenches when doing anything alternator related.
- Inspect bolts I rounded a crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer bolt.

Next I plan to get the interior buttoned up. Headliner and carpet installed. I daily drive this car at the moment and I love every bit of it.
