I didn't know where else to put this so I apologize if someone gets offended. I know there is countless Ecu flash threads but my car has proven to be unique so I decided to create a new thread. I've searched and searched on the required materials and parts to flash with my setup but not much luck. So I have a 98 black box ECU, and from what I hear it's flash able. Here's my concern; my car is a 97 Gs-T with a 6 bolt block and 2g head and 1g Cas. My question is I heard that I need to add a flash connector along with buying the open port cable and it needs to go to pin 79, is this true? So I couldn't just connect the open port and start flashing immediately? Also, will having a different year Ecu, block, and head make tuning more difficult? Last but not least, I'm a little strung out on funds, is there anyone that will let me borrow a cable/flash connector, or is there a place where I can get one cheap? 180$ for a cable seems ridiculous. I know that EcuFlash is free but if I had the extra money id buy the cable. I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask since ive spent at least 1500 now trying to get it to run and thats how much I bought the car for. I have a couple ECU's I can donate to whoever helps. Thanks in advance,
-Danny

You need the "head jack" to flash. Tuning will not be more difficult than tuning a 98 or 99. /you can find ppl selling used cables cheap sometimes if you look on fb groups or classifieds here. ecuflash is free but you need evoscan to datalog which costs $25.

headphone jack sorry. Looks like an aux cord. Runs to one of the pins on the second connector next to the obdII connector. Or just wire in a female end to the pin 79 at the ecu.

OK I see. I'll probably just get the connector from the tactrix website so I can get the free ecoscan code with it. Would you happen to know anything about why my car refuses to run on the karman safc setting when I have a 2g maf? Boost leak maybe? It will start yo but immediately die
