So my car isn't much of a build anymore. It has evolved a ton over the last eleven years. It went from being a stock 7-bolt with a B16G, to a 6-bolt 2.3 with a 5031, to another 2.3 with a HX-35. After having bad luck with two 2.3L engines the car has settled into it's current state with a 6-bolt 2.0L and still the HX-35. The only thing really build related left for the car is a possible turbo upgrade to get a little quicker spool on the street without loosing the top end.

If you have any questions about parts listed on my car feel free to ask. And if you want some stroker horror stories also feel free to ask.

I am currently building a stroker so I would be interested in your horror stories. You lost two motors back to back? What happened?

I think the actual death of both engines was a result of running very high lift cams on a head that had been rebuilt several times so the installed stem height of the valves was out of spec. This caused rapid wear of valve guides which let oil into the cylinders which then caused detonation. I had other pains with them though, like I sent my forged Eagle crank back to them 4 times. It wasn't until the fifth try that they got me a crank that was actually round and straight.

luii90, the 2.0 and 2.3 don't actually feel that different. Spool takes about 600 rpm longer now but that's about it. As for turbo I'm not really sure. I was thinking an FP green because I don't want to make anything over 500awhp really and I think it may spool a bit faster than the HX-35.

I have thought about them but I don't really want to go away from a bolt on setup. For my goals I don't need any more than the FP exhaust manifold and my DSM style tubular O2 housing with a MVS on it. Also I'm lazy and don't want to have to deal with fabbing up all the hot parts to make it work.

I think that actually an FP Green is about perfect for my car, I just don't know if it will spool sooner than the HX-35 by enough of a margin to justify the change. And even that change would require me to do more than I want to as the HX is not water cooled so if I put on a Green or Red I need to get a new water pipe and the water line fittings to connect to the chra.

I got around to installing a used Moroso oil pan that I picked up. Yay for my engine now holding 6 quarts of Brad-Penn. 20170319_131504.jpg 20170320_195752.jpg

Pulled off my FP manifold today because it had a pretty big crack in runner 3 that leaking a good bit of exhaust. Put on a ported evo3 manifold. Also put on a manifold blanket, I'm curious to see how long it last.

wait the FP manifold cracked! i thought they made them to NOT crack! why can companys not made long lasting items anymore!!! its design was ment to eliminate this sort of thing,

I was a little upset that it cracked but it has been on my car for about a decade and 70k miles so it did last for a while.

i guess its not that bad but i would expect it to last alot more miles considering its content to make them last over stock! this seems weaker and more prone to cracks over the stock one then which is upsetting

Installed my Volk front lower control arms this weekend. The install went pretty smooth with the exception of the drivers side ball joint not wanting to let go. A quick run to harbor freight for a $20 ball joint separator and I was good to go. Can't believe I've gone so long without owning one of those, all the times I've hammered a pickle fork seem really silly now.
Also I lengthened my shock bodies by 0.5" on both sides, the final result was an increase in front ride height by 0.125" on each side. I'm leaving it because my car already was a little low for FL roads.
Getting as alignment later today, I will post up how that goes.

Got the car aligned today and it's clear that I need some adjustable camber pieces. I'm thinking that these pieces from ingalls will get me done up right.

Gave my headlights a little love yesterday and today. I used the 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System 39008 and Meguires Keep Clear Headlight Coating. I think they came out pretty good and it wasn't to tough to do. My passenger one has a spiderweb of cracks top center that were to deep to sand out but this will work for now.

Did an interesting autocross event tonight, three runs in daylight followed by three runs in the dark. It is surprisingly hard to see cones with only your headlights and it really limits how far down course you can look. Both videos are the same course, the night one makes it hard to see anything but I uploaded it anyway.

Now that my car survived this event on to Shootout next weekend. I'll be running in max effort on Saturday. If your there feel free to say hi.
