I used to have sparco Torino seats in my 1995 gsx. Combine with there mounting plate and slider.
But I'm 6'4" and unless they were reclined pretty well my head would be right at the roof and I had to tilt my head if I worn a helmet which got annoying

I used black leather seats out of a RSX type S in my eclipse. Came out really good but required me to build custom brackets. The mounting plates offered by Sparco and others put the seats up too high for my liking. You can get low profile brackets made by Wedge Engineering for any seat pattern but they are expensive.

The cheapest seats out there right now aside from No-name chinese seats are the Procar selection. They are ok but the seats tailor more to the domestic car market and are very large seats for imports. I have run the Sparco R100 which are about $300 each and look really nice. However they are not very comfortable and wore out quickly. That's why i went to an OEM seat. Next step up would be Corbeu seats which have a nice selection but will cost you around $1000 for a set. After that you step up into the really high dollar stuff like Bride where one seat is going to cost you probably what you paid for the whole car.

Bottom line is you always get what you pay for, and it really depends on what matters most too you. If you just want something that looks cool and dont care about comfort. Go with the chinese ebay seats or fake Bride seats from Taiwan. If you want comfort and less cool factor, go with an OEM seat. And finally, if you want both cool and comfort be ready to drop some serious cash.

I've heard some good things about Cipher seats for a budget aftermarket option.

Otherwise Corbeau is good stuff along with Sparco, Recaro, etc.

Any pictures of the brackets you built for the RSX seats? I like the idea of using an OEM seat, they're pretty comfortable and wear well.

I have a pair of Cipher seats and quite like them. Corbeau has actually knocked off a couple of their seats (or is buying from the same distributor). I have the Cipher CPA2002 which Corbeau offers as their RRX for $300 more.

My guess would be the difference comes from manufacturing quality (or so I'd hope). I would not want to be in a cipher seat in any sort of accident.

The build quality on the Cipher seats is fine, I have no concerns with them. I'd be interested to see the frame of the Corbeau but the cipher is quite solid.

Like Carlz0r stated, the build quality is decent. I've read reviews online of people taking them apart to check on it and the frames are good quality.

Status Carbon Kevlar. A bargain at only $2k a piece with harnesses.

:aha:WTF

Holy shiz batman. I can have a local company make me seats from scratch that would be just as effective for less... granted they're probaby very nice, but damn....2k a piece? I better have bjs unlimited with the purchase.

Bride Low Max are my ultimate... The want is strong there. A good question to be answered first before recommendations would be are the seats used for dd, track, etc.? That could help narrow down the types of recommendations.

I would look for anything that could recline and adjust then. A lot of aftermarket seats are fixed position and that could get uncomfortable on any longer trips. Those Brides recline... just saying. :)

Yeah but for a real bride Low Max you are looking at like 2K per seat. A little to much for a car that is only worth 3-4k in good shape. You can get the Taiwan replicas of the bride Low Max for around $800 bucks shipped to your door and they look pretty well made. Been thinking about trying a set for a while.

I will get some pictures of my RSX seat mounts for you. The only complaints I have with those seats is that they are a little high in the car. But its nothing that a little cutting and welding of the seat frame wouldnt fix.

That would be cool, looks like a can find RSX seats pretty easily in my area.

Ok as promised here are pictures of my RSX seats in my 1999 GST. Please ignore the dirty carpet. I have the CAD model and dimensions I used to make these brackets if you would like them. As posted above if you dont want to manufacture your own brackets go with wedge engineering as they can make them custom for any seat.

Our seat mounts are very hard to make brackets for, the mounts closest to the console sit about and inch or so higher than the mounts out by the door. The mounts in front are also higher than the mounts in the rear. This 3D sloped plane makes it very hard to get the seat level when making your own brackets. You will see in the pictures the 1" tall box tubing I had to add underneath the rail on the door side to get the seat to sit level left to right.

Did you have to have custom brackets made? If so did you make them yourself, any pics?
I haven't mounted them yet. I am currently looking for information about what would be needed. If I find anything or get them mounted I'll let you know but it is looking like I'll either need custom brackets or modification to the stock ones.
