I just did the brembo upgrade on my car and got a deal on evo rims. My tire is rubbing on the fender. On the front and back when hitting bumps.

My car is lowered and I'm unsure of the amount because it came on the car. I do know I have tokiko shocks all around and tein springs in the front and unsure of the back but the springs are yellow.

I would assume my car is lowered a decent amount.

Is there anyway to not rub without rolling the fenders.

My tire is 205/45/17.

If you aren't keen on the idea of rolling the fenders, you could swap out for stock springs and run something along the line of a 235/45/17 without rubbing.

Just so you know, the minimum recommended tire width for an 8 in. wide rim is 215 mm.

Could I get adjustable shocks to fix this? I know there are lowered 2g doing autocross was wondering how they handle this. I do want to keep the car lowered.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You could go with coil-over adapters such as the Ground Control setup. You can then adjust the ride height and choice of spring stiffness.

You just did the evo X calipers right! How you fitting evo 8 wheels on LOL. I heard only the evo X wheels or 18" wheels are needed as 17" dont clear

I know you mentioned the ground control setup. I know everyone hates ebay but could I get the coil over sleeves and just use my upgrade suspension already?

Ive looked and couldnt find any info on ebay sleeves other than the springs they come with are junk.

I have read that ebay sleeves are junk and break easily. Which could leave you on the ground and needing a tow. I ended up getting ground control for my car, but I know koni also makes an adjustable sleeve for their shocks as well, which I believe are cheaper than gc, I can not say anything of their quality but I'm sure they would be more reliable than any knock off you can get on ebay.

I didn't know sleeves are shock specific.

As long as you have shocks with a removable spring perch, and the sleeves inside diameter fits around the shock and is able to rest where the spring perch would normally go. Im pretty sure the tokikos I had on previous had permanent spring perches.
-edit-
I don't see how you could be rubbing, you have about a foot of wheel gap unless of course your shocks are blown and your car is just bouncing around on the springs.

He has a point your car doesn't even look that low to be rubbing. I couldn't even fit a finger in between my tire and fender before I changed it out and it only occasionally rubbed. However going over speed bumps was near impossible. Do you notice your ride is fairly bouncy?

I don't notice the car being bouncy. Seems to be a pretty stiff. The shocks could be blown. There is black gunk on them I think.

Also I had another 2g with stock suspension and it was super bouncy but smooth compared to this.

So the problem is the shocks. All 4 are blown. So now I am looking for recommendations. Im looking at the koni sports or the tokico blues. Or a used set of the tokico illumina. What are your guys thoughts?

Since you mentioned purchasing the car with the lowered suspension, take a good look and see if there is anything added for additional camber adjustment. Your picture isn't the greatest, but I would think there should be more negative camber since it has lowering springs. If there are camber parts, they might be the cause of your rubbing.

I would like to update this thread. So My problem was definitely the shocks. I replaced them with the koni sports. Also there is a bunch of information about the koni yellows on here. But From what I read the rears are only adjustable by removing the shock where as the front is adjustable on the top with the tool they provide. I want to say that information is now incorrect. The rears are adjustable from the top as well. They are the same design as the front.

But now I am looking for tire recommendations. My tires are to small for the rims I have. I want to find tires with grip and would like to stay under 150 per tire. I was thinking about getting winter tires for grip.

The info about koni yellow adjustibility was for 1g cars. On a 1g you have to remove it to adjust it. I run evo 8 wheels with stock 235/45 tire on a stock height suspension. No issues. I don't believe the offset is correct but on a stock suspension I didn't care. If I need more clearance I will look into different wheels when I lower the car. I won't lower it at all without considering all suspension geometry. Lowering for looks alone (not saying thats' why you did) is a bad plan.

Unfortunately I have to stick with 17 inch rims. Can't fit 18s. But I actually got different wheels twice and both wheels spoke design hit the calipers. But as far as tire size I am unsure what will for sure fit and I just want a good affordable tire.

The 2nd post clears up the safe recommended tire size for 8" wide rims. Anywhere from 215-245mm
In case you don't know, the stock tire size on evo rims is 235/45 when going wider at a 245 most people drop down to a 40 aspect ratio. Once you get the suspension hammered out you should be able to run a "normal size" tire on your rims. I'm at 245/40/17 with a 17x9 +35 with no rubs or fender rolling and my car was lowered by the PO as well...
