I got my donor fuel tank, floating bolts and one of the hanger bearing mounts removed this weekend :) happy to be making progress on it finally. What did you do for the fuel tank strap bolts? Did you cut them from the donor, or get new hardware to weld on instead?

I installed new bolts I put up pictures somewhere on this thread showing how I did it.

Haven't updated or changed much. I went and got the safety and emissions done two weeks ago so she's legal for another year. Also took her for a nice cruise and she was a blast. Hoping to hit 500 miles on the rebuild and get the next oil change out of the way. Also I've been trying to get her into the body shop but my friend says they are a few weeks out so hopefully before summer I at least get the damage on the rear end fixed and primered.

Still think AWD donuts in the snow with the top down would have been cool..
Way cool project Omar, can't wait to see it done this year!

Hope you guys are ready for an update and an overload of pictures! :D :D :D :D :D

My buddy gave me a screaming deal on these EVO 8 Enkies, Couldn't pass them up, I finally decided on a color to powder coat them but you guys will have to wait for that :) My powder coater is out a few weeks and I'm not in a big rush to get them done.

Here's the money shot guys, I'll let you guys know I had the Fenders, Bumpers, Side Skirts, Trunk and Hood painted. My friend works at a small paint repair shop and he doesn't have the equipment to pull the rear so the quarter panels and rear end and doors will have to wait. I'm so incredibly happy with the car, It's like I just got a whole new love for this thing and can't wait to keep the updates coming!

Door Strakes will be installed soon! Just received the proper clips from Mitsu today shooting for this weekend to have them installed.

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO!

Thanks for looking guys! Also did complete the 500 mile oil change and everything looked great! I'm currently waiting for a few parts so I can fix a bad boost leak and hopefully get ready to turn the boost up :)

Stay tuned!

Just read this whole build and this car is beautiful man. I did the awd swap as well and have also gone through the selling phase a couple times but if you hang in there it always ends up getting better. It's a cycle haha! Once again beautiful car man I love the color and that you decided to go 2gb talon :hellyeah:

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Very happy I decided to keep her!

As for the mountain pics, this is literally across the road from my house we have beautiful mountains here in Utah!

Car looks really good man. Pretty much a twin to my '98 TSi. I think it would look even better if you painted the door handles to match and then the windshield surround and mirrors black like a factory TSi. If you are looking for a high-rise spoiler there is one in a junkyard near me I could snag for you.

The doors and quarter panels haven't been painted yet, when that gets done the handles and windshield surround will as well. Thanks for the offer but I'll never have a spoiler on this car I've never liked the look of any on the spyder and eventually plan on doing the carbon fiber trunk anyways. Plus I'm not sure you can mount a 2gb thong spoiler on a spyder because of the mounting points.

I was actually just thinking about that when I was looking at mine and how it wouldn't fit on that trunk, doh!

Bring this thing to DSM Shootout so we can do a photoshoot together plz! :)
