I have a 1990 gsx, the streets were flooded after I had gotten off work. I had to drive home one street was dark. Didn't notice the almost foot of water. I went through and lost first gear. The car stalled I didn't think about it cranked it over. Wouldn't start. Got it out of the water it started but idled bad so I shut it down and got a tow home. The fmic was in water and the exhaust was submerged. Is the car done?

Pull your plugs out and check for moisture and do a compression test to start. You may have messed something up in the electrical system instead, check you air filter also and see if it got wet. What do you mean you lost first gear? Is it auto or manual?

That's very odd to me about it not wanting to go into first, have you checked your cable and levers on the trans to make sure nothing is obstructing their movement. You could also try select gears on the trans with cables detached.

Had a 3 inch intake sticking out of bottom of bay and did same thing, drove home gm maf was acting crazy, take all pipes off and drain if necessary, and oil change to be safe should be fine. If air filter dry shouldn't be much in there

I checked all the cables and everything. Watters actually got inside the car so there is no interior either. I've read water can get to the clutch or flywheel?
