I could use a bit of advice on which housing to choose with the hx35 8 blade. I'm trying to build it to spool as quick as possibe, and that's why I want the .55 mitsu bep housing, but I'm a bit worried about it choking the engine at high rpms.

Engine eagle rods, wiseco pistons, 1000cc injectors, cyclone intake Co trolled with ecmlink, speed density, hks 272 cams, crower springs and retainers, evo rockers, hks cam gears. I'll be running a tubular top mount turbo manifold as well. I'd like to see power up in the mid to high 7krpm, but I also want it spooling fast as its going into a 4x4 truck.

Will the .55 mitsu housing choke my top end? I know it limits flow to around 50 lbs or so, but unsure if it actually hurts on top end power

Thanks for the reply, I have read that thread, but it really doesn't answer my question as to if I will be falling off power at higher rpms with a 4g64.

Is the 2.4 gonna fall on its face like a 2.0 with a t25, no. Would you make more power with a bigger ar hot side compared to .55, yea

It hurts as much as the max flow your losing by using the 55, id go bigger considering the amount of load your gonna have in a 4x4, seems like your thinking v8 terms with horribly undersized turbo

An hx35 with a twin scroll is a great combo with 2.4 but do not expect hx40 power up top at all

Just seems like a reduntant answer that is revealed in that thread, spool or airflow. Pick one, how do you drive your 4x4, WOT mudding? Go twin scroll or big t3, low rpm torque need situations? bep

maybe I missed something, but the .55 is suppose to flow around 50lbs a minute, and an 8 blade only does 52.

I dont care about the 2lbs, but im assuming at some point past 6500 maybe there is a restriction with the smaller hot side and flow will drop off. I was browsing the thread with my phone and didnt see any dynos. but that threead is all over the place. Most people are looking for the absolute most hp especially with dsm, im looking to see if I cant get a bit of both, fast spool with some top end. If it is going to fall off, I wanna know where, this is what I would like to know. I have valvetrain good for 8400rpms, if I can get it up there somewhat even close to 8k with a .55 housing I would like that.

the truck probably only weighs 2700lbs, and wont be in 4wd very often, it's not a wheeler, just a fun project that should be functional, as to why im looking into a hx35/bep combo as it offers better spool than a e3 16g from what I have seen.
