Basically I'm having a hard time deciding what bolt on parts I need to run to create 550whp...
Status of car: Made 400hp with 1050cc injectors on E85, custom 20g turbo, 1g 2g piston rod combo, fp2 cams... until it blew... Then I had an engine built by Strictly, 600hp capable engine, still running fp2 cams in it.
My questions to all you fellow DSMers is what turbo do you all prefer to create the power I'm looking for. What manifold should I run? Intake man? Throttle body? Waste-gate? Injectors? Plan to run with E85, for street mainly, maybe a little bit of a daily driver. I appreciate it, I'm really looking forward to this build. Summer is right around the corner!!!

Well there quite a bit of selections out there. Depends on your goals and how efficient you would like it to be etc. In my opinion, my top preferred turbo brand is forced performance all day without a question or doubt! They have multiple sizes that can achieve that power or more. I like there exhaust manifold as well for any bolt on or Mitsubishi flange high output turbo but Jm fabrications or Sheepy would be my choice for other flanges. Jm fabrications and or Magnus offer some quite awesome intake manifolds Stock throttle body's handle quite a bit of power but S90 offers some awesome billet ball bearing throttle body's. I run the forced performance internal gate but Tial gates are always known and work great! There's lots of different injectors but I love fuel injector clinic and the wide range that they offer. Injector dynamics would probably be my next choice just haven't used them or heard much about them. (Others please chime in if you have and tell us how you like them!) That's would be some of my suggestions!

Thank you very much!!! What would be my determination to the size throttle body? Annnnnnd what size injectors? I've always liked FIC the most so most likely will be running them, size and highz, lowz, hold and peak, these options have me lost idk what ones i need...

The size of your throttle body is going to be decided on how you want to run the street. Most aftermarket throttle bodies do not come with means to run an ISC. the most important part about throttle bodies and intake manifolds is that they're port matched. there's guys running 700+hp on stock throttle bodies. Personally I prefer the 1g N/t TB and you can keep your stock mani with it and easily reach your goal. Also remember, the TB/IM combo is not going to make your gains as much as more boost and tuning, just improve airflow and throttle response.

I would toss the 20g and get an hx40 or H1e and forget about the TB/IM until you're over 500

If you are really wanting a top mount turbo mani, boosted performance has one for sale in the classifieds. With that said, a holset 40 will get you where you need to be. I put down 567whp at 35psi. I guess a lot just depends on your budget. Forced performance has great turbos choices as well.

No problem at all, I'm glad to help! I definitely agree with 97gsxlA's on both posts that manifold isn't necessary at all for your goals. Great point on the throttle body as for he mentioned the idle speed controller too (which I like and prefer to definitely have). There's been serious power put down on stock throttle bodies but after switching to the s90 I honestly couldn't be happier with the peppiness of it and gains it gave my Dsm. I used to have high resistance saturated 1100cc fuel injector clinic that deleted the resistor box. Now got the 1450cc blue max low resistance peak and hold ones. Could not tune around getting a perfect cold start with the 1100s on link v3 full but I don't have that issue with my blue max 1450s and injector resistor box. I personally like low z's better but I'm sure a stand alone like Aem ems series 2 would make high z's run the way I would expect for dialing cold starts in. It's always better to be safe then sorry on injector size with high horsepower. That's why I chose my 1450s and they got me to where I wanted to be with room still left. I also run the wally 255 (about 39psi base pressure) high pressure rewired pump and fuel lap air fuel pressure regulator and filter. And I can't not mention how good extreme turbo systems do with there absolutely awesome inner coolers and Mishimoto with there radiators!. Let us know how things turn out and feel free to ask any other questions!

Okay awesome. right now I've got 1250cc FIC's, and Jays racing 340lph fuel pump. Everything you have posted has been informative! How much power are you making?

Thanks! for the hx40, what am I looking for when purchasing??? what needs to be done to my exhaust to run this. T3 mani and??? what kinda power have others made with this holset?

This is just my experience and two cents worth ...... enjoy the car, drive the snot out of it for a bit , do some maintence , get some drive train mods and upgrades to with stand the next level of power. Have fun as summer is just around the bend.
To many times I have seen good motors and cars go to pot, adding a huge turbo adds alot more stress on components causing breakage. Especially in the drivetrains of our cars ...maybe look at the 300m from Boostin and a center/transfere case rebuild and beef up .... or a front diff , regular maintence on the trans that has been over looked .... a lot of things that will really help when it comes time and ready for the big 550hp jump in power.
Just my two cents ..

Really I would see if jusmx141 has a holset you can buy from him otherwise pick one up from a junk yard and send it to him to get rebuilt. The biggest thing to me was getting the correct oil pressure to the turbo. That's the case for any turbo but its a big deal. Any t3 manifold you want to run and fab up a downpipe to fit. I actually have a t4 twin scroll holset housing with a v-band downpipe a shop here fab'd for me. Pretty simple and great turbos if you ask me. Good luck!

Eric

Holsets are a great option, Takes a little fabricating yes but worth it in the end it seems. Can't go wrong with the old GT35R ball bearing but then your paying a pretty penny! I'm probably going the hx-40 route when the time comes. Just all a matter of preference really a lot of turbos will get you where you want to be.

Your 1250's will be fine for 478whp on E85 ( See http://fuelinjectorclinic.com/flow-calculator) anything more than that, you'll need larger.

Do a search on Holsets or anything similar to an FP Red. You are going to need to consider a lot of things. I don't know what cams your have, but you need to consider that as well so the larger turbo can breathe. Most importantly AND ESPECIALLY if you have a B/S delete you need to make sure Holsets do not exceed 70-75psi oil pressure and the oil return is at the VERY minimum -10an but preferrably and idealy -12an. (For a -12an you'll need to weld a bung on your oil pan) and no kinks or dip below the oil pan flange. You'll need to trim your crossmember and/or front roll stop and probably dent your waterpipe to clear the comp housing.

thanks man, ill look into the tcase. as of right now I do have a trans from jacks

fp2 cams in the car. awesome info!!

Those should work for you to get close to your goal depending on duty cycle and base fuel pressure, turbo and boost. You could always have them cleaned if you don't want to buy a new set and replace the seals (always lube them with engine oil upon install). That's a great fuel pump and that moves some serious liters per hour for a single pump just like the aero pumps. Thanks I appreciate it! This site is great along with the forms and helped me a lot at one point as well! I haven't done too much logging since my 274s went in my boostin performance head but I was logging 60lbs a minute before the new cams and my s90 74mm! It does feel like it has more to offer every time I get in it and puts a smile on my face every time! :dsm::hellyeah: Make sure to keep us updated with your build!

Should I go with a 70mm throttle body or 74mm? Ik there are other options but I'm looking to buy the package with the SMIM of extremepsi. Ik bigger isn't always better but what is the disadvantage for me to run a overkill tb?
