I'm new to the DSM secne, so sorry for the dumb question. I want to know what is a good solid air intake for my 98 spyder gst?
It is bone stock. I have been searching and searching but haven't really gotten a straight forward answer. Is the K&N FIPK worth getting? MPlease help me out.

FP intake is a nice piece, and well worth it in my opinion

Does your intake require that you have a recirculation fitting for the BOV/Bypass valve? If not, I would go with a 45 degree coupler, paired with a 45 degree aluminum bend pipe and a KN universal clamp filter to match. All variable such as piping and coupler diameter would need to be figured out by you, dependent on space constraints, turbo inlet size etc.

If you need to have the intake recirculated, I would go with the answers found above, FP cast intake for the 2g with a recirculation fitting

Guys.. He's on a T25 still. If his mods are current he's on MAF as well so those huge intakes you're suggesting don't make sense.

You can get an injen style intake on here for cheap. I suggest doing that for now, that will be good for any stock style turbo up to a 20g. And it sounds cool.

There's research on this site suggesting that a 4" intake that abruptly funnels down to 2.25" (FP intake with coupler adapter) at the turbo inlet actually decreased performance. You need a smooth transition before the compressor inlet.

This is very true. You can also buy a cheap ebay recirculating intake and add a k&n filter.

Dejon is no longer in business...... Dejon intakes pop up in the classifieds on occasion.

I would keep an eye out on the classifieds for a dejon or injen with recirculation fitting. Pretty much echoing whats been said above, Depending on you hp goals for the car the only way I would get a bigger intake is if you plan on doing some extensive mods including a bigger turbo needed for the 4" intake. I have one on my t-25 right now but it was literally only on there for a couple days before I swapped it out.

I agree on the ebay version or keep watching the calssifides.

I scored a used Dejon intake. Looks nearly stock and it made a difference in power.

Extremepsi sells an intake kit. Has a nice tube with a recirculation fitting, associated vacuum lines, and a filter with the option of choosing a k&n filter. That's the intake I'm running. Its around $150 for everything if you pick the k&n. Cheaper if you get the standard filter.

if you are crafty, hit up the scarp yards...every eclipse I see has been modified.
I picked up a K&n drop in filter from a Galant. I found another this weekend.
I think it was $4.

when mine was stock, I couldn't break traction and boost was around 14psi. Changing the intake tube and K&N I now break tracking and boost now goes past 15psi and is quicker.

oh ya..I reversed the diverter valve. It must have been leaking.
