Hi Guys, me again.
I've got my crack team of engineers on the problem, (HUGE thanks to dsm'er KillerColt for being my boots on the ground/personal guru/all around awesome dude) but I figured I would post a thread on here to see if I could get any additional answers, as we seem to be a little stumped with this situation:
Car is automatic.
Installed Translab valve body upgrade kit and the car went into limp mode.
Installed the Forced Four shift box and the car goes through all the gears no problem (solenoids are fine).
Hooked up a new TCU and still Limp Mode.
When charging the battery overnight, I was able to get the car to come out of limp mode for about 30 minutes, then the next time I cranked it up, LM was back. This trick only worked once. Now it stays in LM no matter if I unhook and charge the battery overnight.
Pretty sure the alternator is bad, due to having run the former setup without heat shields for about 6 months. We got a reading of about 11v on when hooking it up to a volt meter. I can see this causing the TCU sense a problem (computers are pretty particular about things like input power) and combined with the charge overnight trick that worked that one time, I'm thinking it's alternator related. However, since that "trick" only worked that one time, I figured I would ask on here to see if anyone had had any similar issues.
So...anybody ever have a similar situation?
Thank you O great DSM Masters!
