I've just completed the auto to manual swap in my 91 eclipse GS-T using this site as a guide (Converting a 1G FWD DSM Auto) .Everything is back together and now the car wont start!!!,Yes I've had the starter checked and its fine.the only wiring modification it stated to do was to take the inhibitor switch plug(the plug that went to the auto)and cut the 2 black/yellow stripe wires and connect them together witch I did and I see why, without them being connected the fuel injectors don't pulse when you turn the key like they should,I've read in other forums that connecting the 2 wires tricks the ECU in to thinking the car is in park or neutral and behold the car starts but its not working for me.might be there connection also(just have them twisted together for testing and diagnosing purposes). If anybody has any suggestions please help.I've been working 3 weeks straight on this project with no days of rest because I have NO transportation to go get a job,I'm unemployed with a baby on the way in march.I have to get this car running!:sosad:any help would be deeply appreciated.

Just a thought, if you plugged the clutch switch in(it is part of the AT harness) is the switch being depressed all the way when you push the clutch in? I have mine unplugged and its started every time.
Did you completely take out the TCU? Or at very least unplug it.
There is a possibility that the anti-theft system is engaging, but thats only if you have it. If you do, be sure to fully unlock the door with your key then get in and try to start.
The black wires do lie to the computer and tell it that the car is in neutral or park which is essentially the same as a clutch safety switch.

No anti theft system,The brake plug is plugged in and I took the clutch sensor off to plug it up because the wires were too tight to pull them over and when I did it was bypassing the brake light sensor and acting as one itself(weird)so I unpluged it.still cant figure it out.also need to know if a space this big ->II<- between the motor and the trans is OK or not,all the bolts tighten up on the trany except the for 12mm below the starter and that's the amount of space that's between it with the bolt all the way tight, even took the guider pin out and its still the same.

that's OK,thanks for the trany space question though.I'm gonna try and use compressed air and blow it out and try everything i can to fix it,I think its stripped now,Ive already put a crow bar up against the trany and the inside of the engine bay to pry and push them together but it just wont go any further.

i don't know if this is any help on the 1g but on the 2g A/T to M/T swap the starter must be replaced with a M/T one as well... the A/T starter is shorter so if you install a manual tranny on and the auto starter it won't reach the flywheel to start the motor. M/T = M/T starter... you can't M/T= A/T starter

hope that helps? if not, good luck and congrats on being a new dad!

... you haven't checked the starter yet?!?! awesome. i think we found your problem then. you should be driving around picking up applications in no time now, but shifting instead of letting the A/T do all the work!
my baby is an A/T as well, ive been reading deep into the swap so its still fresh in my head what needs to be changed. if that starter is the prob don't think for a sec. i know what im talking about. ;)

I wish I could say damn i was stupid and should have checked the starter because that would be wonderful at this point but Ive had the starter out of the bell housing hole the whole time I've been testing it because of the initial first attempts to start it but it still wont even act like its gonna turn the starter over and the inhibitor wires that are posed to be connected are.?I'm Stumped?

:mad:Alright...that's it,taking the trany and axles out tomorrow and figuring out all these problems once and for all even though I feel like im:beatentodeath:!if I cant figure out and fix the problems to get it running be looking out for a 91 GST for sale on the Greenville South Carolina Craigslist for $2000!!! since I know where an AWD Talon is for 2 grand right down the road with about 9k in it!!!and it runs!!!:cry:I feel like going out and beating the shit out of the NT donor car I have sitting in my driveway! Thanks for everyone's help no mater what I do.

UPDATE!!!

I just realized something that might work.My grandpa and I were talking about the car and he said that I am basically dead ending the signal by cutting the wires,I'm going to reconnect the wires on the inhibitor switch and hook the unit up and make sure it is in the park or neutral position(should of done that to begin with),then I will try and turn the starter over,if it starts then I will have a car to drive with basically a anti theft cut off if I ever leave the car for a long period of time;),I'll just tuck the unit behind the inter cooler piping.

I'll let everyone know the results as soon as I know!thanks for everyone's help:):dsm:

LOL a space this big ">II<'' between the transmission and block. Sounds to me like someone didn't remove the pilot bearing causing the flywheel not to seat all the way. In turn jamming the rotating assembly when the transmission is bolted down.

Shainesboostin, throw a ratchet on the crank pulley and see if you can spin by hand. If you can't the above may be your problem. If you can spin it, then its gonna be an electrical issue.
