Hi, i have a problem with my cars starter signal wire. it used to make the starter turn on until a few days ago. sometimes took a couple times but worked. now when i hit the key i don't even get a click or nothing. i know is not my starter because when i introduce power to the signal wire at harness in engine bay, car will turn on. also when i disconnect the signal wire from starter i put a probe on wire and turn key i get power at end of signal wire(when i do this i also hear weird buzzing noise from inside car, near center console). now when i connect it back to starter and hit key there is no power anymore at signal wire. does anyone know what i can check. is there a relay i should be looking for. dont know much about electrical.... anyone have any ideal what i should be looking for. any help will help. first post sorry if too long.

Sounds like your ignition switch. It could also be your starter itself. An easy way to test your starter is to put the car in NEUTRAL and run a jumper cable (small gator clips work) from your starter solenoid (small tab on the starter solenoid that you attach your starter signal wire to). If you take this jumper and put it on the positive side of your battery it should activate your starter, and the motor should turn over. If this does nothing then you have a bad starter. MAKE SURE you have your car in NEUTRAL!!!!! If you do not then it will jump forward or backward, if you have a 5spd, Or if you have an automatic and leave it in park then you can potentially damage the drivetrain but more likely the starter.

Thanks for the relplis... It turned out to be my ignition swith... It wasn't sending a signal out when in start posion... Fixed and working
