Hey guys, need a little help. Hope you can help. I have my 96 gst. Drives perfect untill it goes in to posative boost. When above 0 on my boost guage it hesitates alot and if i dont let off it feels like fuel cut but im only at 10lbs. So i am looking to fix it and wondered where to start. I have checked all my hoses and fluids and everything is good. Any of you experienced something like this

look at your knock sensor. a bad knock sensor won't be able to advance or retard timing in boost or at wot. make sure its plugged in and not melted looking. that would be the first thing i'd look at

That sounds like a good idea. Now i have searched for the location of the knock sensor and what i have seen is its located on the front of the block and plugs in by the fuel rail. If i am wrong please guide me in the correct direction

I hate to restate what someone has said before me, but just to hammer in the point. Do a boost leak FIRST! This problem is usually related to a boost leak. There are LOTS of places you can possibly be leaking boost.

If that does not fix your problem, come back and let us know.

Thank you for the help, i plan on doing the boost leak check, checking my plugs and wires, i jusy wanted to get a few more ideas so i could chase a few things down instead of one thing then post, one more thing then post. I have not really got to really dig in to it yet. But i do know it drives perfect as long as i dont go above 0 on the boost. Tomorrow i will be doing some digging to hopefully find the problem. Thank you again. Will keep you all posted.

What did you figure out? Was it boost leaks, or a bad knock sensor? just wondering because i get hesitation in boost too. Car drives fine until the boost starts to build up. Then it seems to "bog down" or hesitate for a moment or 2 and then slowly builds boost. Doing a boost leak test today once it warms up a little outside. Living in Minnesota without a garage makes it hard to get work done sometimes.

It sounds like a boost leak, but usually a boost leak the car just feels like it bogs down and you hear a random hiss or dolphin air squirt LOL

It could also be bad spark plugs.

If you have free time replace your spark plugs with copper ngk plugs or copper autolite plugs. Do not use platinum or iridium as they do not have the same large arch as a copper plug.

A boost leak tester is easy to make when you have some free time, basically you use a pump to fill the system with air to see if if holds a constant pressure.
