I Just finished up the transformation from AWD to RWD about a month ago and though I would share some build picture. The previous setup was backhalfed solid rear axle with an auto trans, 2.0L, PTE76 , the car was running mid 5.30 @130-33.

Car before the conversion:

Very nice work.. I'm on the process of building a 1972 Datsun 1200 with a 4g63 and 2 speed powerglide... Running AEM V2 with the stock harness, just unsure how can I make the stock harness work and what is necessary to make it work

Very nice build! The oil pan looks great. Interesting you went to the V8 style "remote" mount turbo. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on doing that?
Care to share specs on the header and pipe size to the turbo? Oh an turbo specs?

I started with the factory wiring harness and basically cut the plug connection for the ECU side off and started fresh from there.

Thanks, the front mount turbo main benefits is that it has direct inlet air from the front of the car and helps move some weight to the nose of the car. I built the header out of 304 stainless ( 1.5" schedule 10) from the v-band up is 3" stainless and the turbo is mounted to the chassis. The turbo is just an off the shelf precision 7675 with a billit wheel. Heres a little beter shot of the complete hotside.

Ok cool, that looks pretty nice.. I was told all I need to power up the ecu is alternator 12v power, constant 12v for ecu, coil/ignition power, fuel pump 12v and ground.. But as far as any existing relay or sensors from the 1g? I know for sure I need that gray box for the injectors, and i have it. But what else would i need? I would have to start looking for all those components if they are needed! Would appreciate your thoughts on that, I'm trying to gather everything I need little by little..

Your car was very fast before in AWD format. Why are you going RWD? What are the new goals for the car? Nice fabrication, I'm subscribed!

An AEM v2 will simplify your life. The peak and hold injector drivers work pretty darn well and you can toss the resistor pack and easy-tune box. Plus all of the additional engine safety features with lean out protection, oil pressure protection, fuel pressure protection. But....v1 are practically free anymore and they get the job done:D

thanks for the comments, the main reason I decided to go RWD is I want to go faster with more reliability out of the drive train. I think with the new setup it should be able to run low 5.0 / 4.9's with less power and nitrous than I was running AWD.

I know, I think I'm on borrowed time running the V1 AEM but its hard to justify changing it out until it fails.

Here's a few shots of the motor set in with the JMFab RWD intake manifold and the updated dry direct port NX system.

You'll love AEM v2. I've run both. Initial purchase will sting, but you won't regret it unless you want infinity.

Your 5.3 is impressive! Can't image 4.9. What was your main weak point(s) at 5.3? The rwd subframe you made seems so simple. Looks awesome. Keep posting updates:thumb:

Wow, what an amazing build so far. Its pretty cool to see a rwd build every once in a while. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, it seemed that the main week points before were gears in the transmission breaking.

changed up the interior to remove the factory dash and put in a fiberglass dash, also stood the nitrous bottle up vertically to make room for the intercooler tank.

Also changed the stock wheel out for a grant with the quick release hub and added a 7 inch windows tablet as a replacement for analog gauges.
