I have a 5 speed gsx, my shifting is notchy. Takes a couple tries to get it into first, very notchy into second, third, fourth, and fifth are fine. Reverse takes a couple tries as well. I was wondering if solid bushings for the base and cables. Maybe new fluid. It was changed a little under a year ago. Thanks guys.

The slave and master are good, I took it to a transmission shop and they said there is nothing I can do that it was a notchy unit, I believe there has to be something to help.

Do a clutch drag test. The car being difficult to put in gear at a stop with the engine running is a classic sign.

On a flat piece of road press the clutch to the floor, rev the engine to 6-7,000 Rpms and see if the car moves at all. If it does, the clutch is dragging and needs adjusted.

Yeah, I noticed when the car is off it shifts perfectly smooth a little clunky but way better, just curious wouldn't that be kinda harsh on the car? To Rev that high.

Tomorrow I'm gonna go see if it's dragging, I have a buddy with a shop so I can adjust it. Harder when there's a storm

You can try adjust clut at the pedal for maximum pedal height and check if there any improvement.

After replacing both my master and slave, I still had to fine tune the adjustment to eliminate clutch drag where it's not stopping the input shaft.
You get it right, but things can get out of alignment were just a half turn on the rod clears it up in a quick.
