Let me first say I did my timing belt with all oem components from extreme psi. They "forgot" to put my oem tensioner in the box. Called them and they sent it

Now with rock auto, I ordered all Continetal accessory belts, and a Continetal timing belt and balance shaft belt for good measure. Ordered new crank, cam, oil pump, balance shaft seals and plug wires

Well I received 3 continental belts and 1 good year gator back belt. Rock auto stated through 6 different customer service representatives that if a warehouse did not have an ordered item in stock it was acceptable to send a similar item. Going back and forth between 6 emails with 6 different representatives they have stated they can not guarantee that they will send you the part that you ordered and offer no guarantee of Part fulfillment.

Even after explaining that the belts are highly visible and needed to match I was told that I received an acceptable item. I was told I could be given a refund after I sent the item back to them and paid a restocking fee. (The belt was $3.80 ) I finally asked if I could buy a Continetal from their website and their customer service representative could not guarantee I would receive the item I paid for

Its a stupid problem, at any auto parts retailers they would offer to correct the problem however rock auto denies there is any problem. I have good year gator back belts on the car now and they are terrible. They require more tension on them and have basically started to fall apart after 3 months. I wanted a standard belt

Basically buyer beware, you probably won't get what you ordered. Guess I'll have to go get some dayco or gates belts from oreilleys or autozone if I want matching belts under my hood

Wow I can't believe this. I have ordered for rock auto multiple times and I have never had an issue. I have always received the exact brand I ordered.

That's wild, I've ordered tons of parts from them and also never had an issue. They do have an account on here possibly try and message them and link this thread maybe they can help?

Yeah they have great customer service usually,
Give them a call and see if they can double check everything for you.
I have always received everything ive ordered off the site

Ive been ordering parts from rock auto for at least a decade. I have ordered mountains of parts and never had a problem. I know I would be upset of they sent me the wrong parts and would not make it right. I actually got gatorback accessory belts and put them on two of my dsm's. I tightened them up after a few drives because of belt stretch and have done this with every accessory belt I ever put on, but they have both lasted for a couple years.

To add insult to injury usps has lost my package containg the continental timing belt and tensioner belt. Rock auto responds that they are waiting to be contacted by usps, usps states they are waiting to be contacted about shipment cargo for reimbursement. It's is two weeks before Christmas but it is starting to feel like a mickey mouse operation

And it is their policy that any part supplied by a warehouse is purchased as item as described and items can be different but similar quality and thus are considered fulfilled orders

I'm not going to bother to post all of the other different representatives that answered the same way. They do not guarantee that you will received the specific part you ordered.

To be clear the good year belt itself is not the reason why I am not happy, a belt is a belt and they all work the same, the fact that I ordered multiple items from the same manufacturer and that the seller really doesn't care about the customer is what upsets me. If this was amazon I would be refunded my money immediately

You will notice I was never answered by the same representative twice, and only offered a partial refund for their error, to be corrected by me shipping the part back to them

Good luck with that, bro. You should've cut the belt and said it was damaged when delivered. I have also used rock for years, but ironically just had a problem which I mentioned in another thread. I got wheel hubs on wholesaler closeout for $10 each. Precision automotive, private label packaging, so they came in a duralast box. There was a yellow recall sticker on the side. I felt binding in the bearing, so I went to auto zone and they informed me there was a safety recall on them, and exchanged them for the newer part. I contacted rock and they gave me a refund, didn't want the parts back, but WTF! You're selling a blatantly dangerous product!
Also, I had USPS deliver a package to the wrong address. The local post office acknowledged this, but USPS never gave me a refund! I think its because the only receipt I had was a confirmation email, which noted shipping as UPS, even though USPS delivers for UPS quite often.
The one thing I like about ordering name brand parts off eBay is the return policy. If the belt doesn't match the description, you automatically get a return label and a refund when they get it back. Good luck!

Exactly! Autozone even warrantied their part!

I got an email from the 8th different representative. All I have asked for this time was if they could find any of their warehouses to find me 2 matching belts. I've asked this several times and again and again they just state they sold me the correct part and then tell me to send the part back for a refund if I do not wish to use the correct item that I purchased

You know what the ironic part is? I am a store manager for autozone. We only sell dayco and duralast and I wanted to get an oem style belt replacement and this is the first and last time I have ever ordered from rock auto. Even ebay and PayPal would state I did not receive the item I purchased

Since the thread is closed, I promised I'd forward on this message from RockAuto since they didn't see it until after it was closed:
1. RockAuto will not substitute parts without the customer's consent. If a part is out of stock, we will contact the customer via phone and/or email to have him choose an alternate or cancel the item.

2. Continental bought Goodyear, and most Goodyear stock has been reboxed/resleeved at this point. It's sounds like the customer received one of the Goodyear belts now rebranded to Continental. That is not considered a wrong item or a substitute; the part is now considered Continental, so the warehouse sent what Continental now sells. If the customer were to reorder the same part, we can't guarantee which he'd receive (original Continental or rebranded Continental) since they are considered the same.
I asked them for a contact the OP can reach out to. I'll PM him that info if they send it to me.
