Hello all. So I don't know where to post this and I can't find any information anywhere so I try it here.

I lost my keys to my 92 eagle talon tsi this summer. Anyways I went to the dealership and they told me they didn't have the records to replace the key. I then went to a locksmith and they did not have the key on record, they told me they could charge me 52$ to call a company and search for the key code, but that company did not have the key code as well.

I tried to take the key cylinder out of the passenger door but cut open my finger pretty badly(should of used gloves.)
Anyways does anyone have any idea what the key code might be( should be mostly the same right?)

My last option is to wait for my finger to heal and get the lock cylinder out, but even than I was told its 80% chance it has the key code on it.

I have the title/VIN#.

I did it at the same time I swapped my dash over with my 93 parts car. I ended up doing it twice because the first time I didn't compare the wiring so I had a plug in that didn't plug in, and had a non working cluster and no dash/interior lights LOL

Hello I am a locksmith. Most of the time you can remove the passenger door lock from the car and it will have the key code stamped on it. Then take the code to a locksmith and get them to cut a key from it. As long as the ignition hasn't been changed that is a sure way to get a factory spec key.

The code will be specific for your car. The vin and title will not help no code source company will date back that far. Passenger lock or replacing locks and ignition will be your only options

Even with no code a locksmith should be able to make a key. He/she would have to take the lock apart, and it might not be possible to put it back together. A hatch lock would be the best one to sacrifice in that scenario since the hatch can be unlocked from the inside. At least you would have a key for doors and ignition.

I've had to have keys cut for a couple parts cars over the years. I've definitely had 2G keys cut by a locksmith by tearing apart a lock cylinder as 91-GS is describing. You lose the cylinder, but you get a key.

You should be able to get the code by taking off the steering column Cover and looking there.

You can still get the keys made from the stealership, just most wont spend the time to help out a past customer, they're more interested in new ones.

Any decent locksmith will be able to build you a key without ruining your cylinder.

In order to get the ignition column key switch out to swap, you still need the key!

I have made a few keys by reading the door cylinder wafers. Its done by reading the first few cuts of the key then you progression the rest of the cuts in.The process is a little time consuming and costly but it can be done with the right software and skill.

Exactly what I did and now the locks that didnt work now work. Was like $20. And I still have all my locks intact :)

Have you tried calling a different dealer? Maybe another state? I was able to get a laser cut key using a code provided by the dealer, by giving them my vin number. Mine is a 2g. But FYI. It wasn't the first dealer I called. Some might be as helpful.. Just a thought before you proceed.

Yes, two dealerships, both recommended me two different locksmith places, all of them said they didn't have the code. I'm gonna try to get the lock out, its a pain atm, heading out of state this weekend will try there if I can't get the lock out.
