For the sake of cost until you find an aftermarket intake you want, you can just take the canister housing off leaving the air filter exposed. Better airflow at no cost.

Or leave the canister and drill the rivets out of the reducer that way you can still have it secured.

If you just remove the canister there would be nothing to hold the filter (unless you got complete aftermarket, that is) so it would be better to cut openings in the canister while keeping enough of it to still hold the factory filter.

People have been removing the canister for years. You just keep the lid.
