i have a 96 talon tsi.
i bought the car with a spun bearing which turned into needing a new crank so i junked the block and found a new block and rotating assembly.
when i got it all back together it will crank over and im getting fuel but i dont have any spark
there is a signal at the crank sensor and there is a signal going into the pcm but i cant seem to get a signal out and there is no signal at the ignition coil.
i was told the computer was the issue, so i found a new pcm and im having the same issue.
anything else that sends spark in or out that im missing?

Definitely check the power transistor. If you have signal at the CAS and nothing at the coil it narrows it down a bit.

i never got a chance to check it out today. but thinking about it now when i am cranking the engine the mpi relay i believe it is is clicking and something else under the hood is also clicking when cranking.
mpi is the two relays on the pass side of the center console behind where the pcm sits, correct?

ok so i followed the power transistor test on this site.
my light doesnt light up. so in my mind that tells me that it is no good. but would that being bad cause the mpi relay to click while cranking and something else under the hood to click?
im going to see if i can get someone to crank the car and feel around for whats clicking under the hood to try to narrow it down. but for now it seems like the power transistor is no good at all.

It sounds like just your MPI firing, which as was said above is normal. If the PT shows any signs of being toast, change it out and see what happens.
