I have a 93 tsi AWD 5 speed. Stock save for a K&N filter and 3" cat back.

I'm wanting a good running, enjoyable, driver. Not a daily driver, but not a 1000hp race car. I'm not gutting the interior or caging it. Also, building the motor (other then ARP studs / MLS gasket), isn't an option at this point. Also, pump gas only..

What would YOU advise me to do? What turbo, injectors, clutch, etc.

What are you looking to do with the car, or HP range? There is a large gap between stock- 1000hp.

What is your budget?

Gasoline or e85?

To me, 16-20g mhi (and varients of) series turbos come to mind for good streetablity. I am sure someone else will chime in about getting the FP 68HTA.
Proper mods to use any of those turbos I leave to you with some research.
I would consider all maintainance items first if you want that reliable piece.

An aftermarket boost gauge and wide-band along with some method of tuning (SAFC, ECMLink, Custom Rom).

I would also not recommend an mls unless you plan to have both head and block decked (usually done during rebuild). Composite head gaskets will be fine with ARPs.

Do not forget get about tires, brakes, and drivetrain components are almost more important than power.

I am looking for an enjoyable, comfortable, driver. Not a daily, but street able.

There is no budget, but if you need a number, I'll go $3,000 - $4,000.

Definitely 93 octane pump gas (no e85 / methanol). If the car sits for 3 months I don't wanna be stuck screwing with injectors, etc.

Goal wise 12 sec. / 300hp.

I already have a 68hta on my other car. It doesn't hit full boost (27 psi) until ~4,100. As we all know, lag is a dull boy. I was leaning towards an EVO III 16g.

Evo 3 16g
650's-780's whatever you find a good price on
Dsmlink
Clutch - xtd stage 4 with unsrpung 6 puck (cheap and effective)
FMIC
Wally 255 fuel pump w/rewire

Done deal, fun street car.

Doing your basic maintenance will go a long way while upgrading ..oh legends list sounds about right. I will say link is a great tool.you can get it done with a afc. But you are putting limits on your car if you ever want to go for more power in the future

So it's looking like this:

EVO III 16g
EVO 8 injectors
Walbro 255 (rewired)
AFPR and install parts
ACT 2600
DSMLink
Innovative wideband
Punishment FMIC

Will I see a 12 second pass on pump in a full weight 1g AWD with this setup (assuming a clean pass and properly function car).

I'm on the same path as you, just a 2g auto. I'm set on a billet 20g, just not a 68hta due to the large turbine housing. As such, I went with a larger injector in the event I want to go bigger.

I am getting the EVO injectors for $65 from a local guy. But if they'll be to small I'll just pass.. With Black Friday closing in, I'm sure FIC will be running a sale on injectors..

Start at stock to get baseline tuning completed (see ECMLink tutorials). Then keep an eye on fuel injector duty, AFR's and knock as you increase boost levels.

Quick update for those who are following along. Came to find out there were some non repairable issues with the chassis. Moved on to a new car (1990 Laser RS FWD turbo. Also stock with a K&N filter. Still wanting the same as the AWD I had (12 second pass on pump gas). Also, I have received some parts from extremepsi.

Fixed a ghetto rigged oil return line setup, radiator had a hole in it, fresh oil change. Come out the next morning.. 5 quarts of Pennsoil Ultra synthetic all over the ground.. Oil pan has a hole in it. Yay... Got my fuel lab filter and filter to rail line/fittings as well as fuel lab AFPR kit! Walbro 450 high pressure relief pump, still have the EVO 8 injectors. Looking for 950's or higher. Gonna stick with the 14b for right now. Installed an FP manifold. Also ported a spare 7cm2 turbine housing I had and put that on. Will try to replace the oil pan this weekend. Link package should be here within a week (hopefully before thanksgiving!), so I'd like to have the car running by months end! Will post pix later. Need to resize them, but don't know how to do it on my iPhone..

You should make updates on your car's profile instead of using the newbie section. People can look at your updates without commenting.......

You can create a thread here:

If you create a new one, I believe a discussion automatically attaches to the specific profile. To size pictures, you could load them up to facebook or craigslist. Then, right click to download the pic, and it will be small enough to upload to your profile. To have pictures linked to posts, create a photobucket (or similar) profile and right click (scroll to "copy image url" on the photo you want to show up in your post. Click on the photo icone in the post (has mountain and moon). After that, a box will pop up. Press ctrl+v to paste the image url, then it will link your photobucket hosted image. There are other ways, but this may be helpful.
