If I'm not mistaken that old of a d50 will have a g54. Totally different engine family, and a 4g63 head won't bolt on.

To check, look and see if you have a timing chain or a belt. The 54's have a chain.

OP Are you sure it's a G64B? [2.4] it could be the G63B it is a 2.0 motor and my book lists it as being used in the early d50s as the base motor, it is a 2.0 [dohc head swap is possible on the G63B], the other motor was the G54B it was, as mentioned above, chain driven motor used in many Chrysler k cars[not able to be used in a dohc swap]

To my knowledge the G64B was not originally in any early 80s trucks stock, nor as an option, but perhaps someone swapped it in... [G64B is able to be swapped with the dohc head]

OP a g64b is totally compatible with a 4g63 Head. I know this because I have a g64b in my garage with a 4g63 head bolted on. There will be ports that need to be blocked but it will work. I would only confirm which truck you remove it from because some were wideblock engines made to bolt up to a different transmission. You will want the engine from a truck from the narrow block.
